High speed rail between airports
editThere was a plan at one for a electric high speed rail between Chicago Rockford and O'hare International. Is that still a consideration? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.184.203.207 (talk) 05:06, 13 October 2013 (UTC)
- Nothing that has ever come to fruition, no. That's why the content referring to that was deleted. I'd file that rumor under vaporware. --SteveCof00 (talk) 09:12, 2 December 2013 (UTC)
Frontier Airlines
editDoes Frontier still serve this airport? It is still on Frontier's route map and the airport's website lists the flights operating charter flights for Apple Vacations. 97.85.113.113 (talk) 04:01, 19 May 2015 (UTC)
Events section
edit(for different opinions on the subject) While the Rockford Airfest content certainly fits into the context of this section, I have to wonder how well the part about Wing Ding, a defunct rock concert held at the airport once fits into the context of the airport article. If not deleted outright, it certainly could use some cleanup/editing attention. Thoughts? --SteveCof00My Suggestion box is open 13:42, 20 January 2016 (UTC)

Proposed Move to Rockford International Airport
editI think that Chicago Rockford International Airport should be renamed Rockford International Airport. First, the other airports in Chicago don't have Chicago in front on their pages in Wikipedia. For example, Chicago O'Hare is known as "O'Hare International Airport", not "Chicago O'Hare International Airport". Then, Chicago Midway International Airport is known as Midway International Airport instead of Chicago Midway International Airport. Second, the airport is way closer to Rockford than Chicago. The distance from the airport to Chicago is 79 miles. Calling the airport Chicago Rockford International Airport seems inappropriate to me. Do you want to move the page to Rockford International Airport? Please share opinions ActivBowser9177 (talk) 17:38, 5 November 2017 (UTC)
- The official website is listed as "Chicago Rockford International Airport". TravelLover37 (talk) 01:30, 11 November 2017 (UTC)
- Oppose While there may be some logic and merit to the top post (although one of the two other Chicago airports is among the busiest in the world, so it is somewhat more recognizable...), I am thinking it is best to keep the article name the same as the listed FAA name for the airport. --SteveCof00 (talk) 09:21, 11 November 2017 (UTC)
Remove "Chicago" WikiProject
editThe airport's relationship to Chicago stops with the name. It's a two hour drive from the city with minimal traffic and does not advertise here at all; it's its own separate airport. Even Allegiant mainly lists the destination as Rockford, not Chicago.
Yet I can still see the counterargument to this considering its relative proximity to the city. I'm curious for other peoples' opinions. Slowtationjet (talk) 22:47, 18 February 2024 (UTC)
- To be clear, not advocating to remove "Chicago" from article title, just to remove the WikiProject tag from the talk page. Slowtationjet (talk) 22:48, 18 February 2024 (UTC)
