- Michael Stannard: Who was sacked by the board of governors due to the excessive beating of the pupils with a small cricket bat. This is mentioned in the then chairman of the board of governors Gay Kindersley's biography. Flings Over Fences: The Ups and Downs of Gay Kindersley by Robin Rhoderick-Jones. In which he said that the most bruising battle of his life was getting rid of Michael Stannard as headmaster of Cheam School. I know this to be true because I was a pupil there during the Stannard era and was one of those pupils subjected to excessive beatings. My departure from Cheam School was one of those things that brought things to a head.
- Joe Comber, took over as interim headmaster for two terms after Michael Stannard's sacking late 1970 Yes this did happen. I have spoken to another pupil who was there when Stannard left. SuusiMB (talk) 10:14, 19 October 2024 (UTC)
