i thought it would be valuable if any other editors would like to help me in creating an archive/links to various pieces on the web demonstrating the varied journalism of a number of music writers, including Murray. I was thinking about including the great writers of the seventies and eighties, such as Paul Morley, Simon Reynolds, Ian Penman, Nick Kent, Charles Shaar Murray etc. If anyone is interesyed i'd appreciate some help and guidance. Thanks. Ask me

Heavy Metal

edit

I've had rather frustrating debate in the ru_wiki recently on the Heavy Metal discussion page concerning this rather silly notion (crudely pasted, apparently from en_wiki entry) that initially rock ctitics made no distinction between heavy metal and hard rock, which to my mind is total nonsense. In order to prove my point (that it was in fact early rock journalists who've made such a distinction in the first place) I referred to a Charsles S. Murray 'Heavy Metal' essay which I once encountered in the Best of NME 1974 almanac (and in fact enjoyed it so much as to translate it into Russian). Trouble is, I find it impossible now to prove even the fact of this essay's mere existence. Any suggestions please? What year it was exactly, was it perhaps Frendz' publication licensed to NME (for it looked like it was written in '71 rather that '74) and could any trace of it be found anywhere? -- Evermore2 (talk) 10:50, 6 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

I just updated the date of birth, as the man himself posted it in his blog here:

Should be authoritative enough?
