There is a new Ekumfi district, separate from Mfantseman
editEkumfi (New) "Ekumfi District with its capital Essarkyir was carved from Mfantseman and forms part of the new districts and municipalities created in the year 2012 and were inaugurated at their various locations simultaneously on the 28th June, 2012."
Ekumfi District appeals to President to nominate DCE for the district mentions it contains the communities of "Ekumfi Narkwa, Otuam, Srafa, Naanaben, Emuna, Akra, Eyisam and Esakyire".
