Celeron D

edit

I have taken the liberty of filling in where the previous poster left off: currently there are two more low level Celeron D's: the 315 and the 310. I have listed the GHz specs as well. Please do not revert this. It is factual. Take the time to go to any computer parts online store, or better yet, Intel's own webpage, and review the information if still in doubt.

http://www.intel.com/support/processors/celerond/sb/cs-012170.htm

I also took a long-overdue measure to delete the superfluous pricing information of these processors, as no other Celeron processor type contained this information, and due to the fact that the prices reported were outdated. Attempting to keep this information up to date is an excersize in futility, while presenting little that a typical user will find helpful.

on die on chip

edit

Say if on die is the same as on chip.

Also say if one must live with fan noise buying a Celeron.

Just a question, are any of the Celeron D's Dual Core? If so, which model(s) is dual core?

Celeron applications

edit

I made a small change, from "molecular modeling" to "graphical modeling." It seemed to me that molecular modeling was a very narrow example for such a prolific processor. "Graphical modeling," or even just "high-quality graphics," is more appropriate for a general-purpose article on Celeron (IMO).

edited post for anyone with similar, i have a mendocino 400mhz and it is a rescue job someone gave me the problem was dead ram and also crackler seagate 2gb hdd is now a 48gb machine including an 8gb drive with initio 9100w card for the drive and also 450sdram cos for some reason i dunno why it is supposed to be 512 i think and also i look forward to one day making it into 768mb ram or 3x512pc133 mhz all it has for cooling is a old psu fan inside and a small one like on the standard models with mettallic green on the block never dies and never locks up much alas it is good for quake etc and many other things never thought of upgrading as such thanks for the info i found on the page here cheers...i also am here on a 256sdram 166mhz ahee..

Celeron D (Cedermill-512)

edit

As the time approaches for the wide scale debut of this processor (end of Q2 2006), it seems that Intel will not be giving it the 4xx naming scheme, but will continue, at least for the time being, with the 3xx scheme. The first two processors to debut will be the 352 and 356 models and will be socket 775 exclusive. Nothing further is known at the moment.

The new Conroe based Celerons will be named 420-440-460-480 [netgamer]

Diffrence

edit

What is the real diffrence between Pentium and Celeron? A section about this could be very useful.

The Differance is, pentiums have a Higher FSB then the Celeron's and they have more Transistors and more l2 cache But as the Celeron has less transistors it makes it WAY easier to Overclock. Overall a Celeron is a weak pentium. A 3.0Ghz Pentium is better then a 3.6Ghz Celeron, [netgamer] Also one more, Celeron D gives 533mhz speed for RAM (as it has 533mhz FSB) whereas Pentium can give more RAM frequency considering its speed & motherboard support.
