Cathepsin Overview
editI think this article is a little confusing as to what a cathepsin is, which in turn seems to be compounded by the information in the pfam box. If my understanding is correct, they're a quite general grouping of proteolytic enzymes that catalyze the hydrolysis of proteins into polypeptides ((http://www.thefreedictionary.com/cathepsin)) and not a family in their own right as implied by the article. If I've understood correctly, we need to make it clear that this general term covers members of several different families and that the members themselves are not by implication evolutionarily related or directly similar in the modes of action - merely by the product of their activity. I hope that makes sense, I have a tendency to ramble when trying to make a point :s Abergabe (talk) 10:20, 10 August 2010 (UTC)
The history section is now incorrect - I assume that pubmed has been updated since, and will likely be updated again, causing earlier articles to be uploaded.
Current earliest article is http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16745589 but this may change, so perhaps the section should be re-written.
