THIS ARTICLE IS ABOUT THE CNE - the summer EXHIBITION - for information about the grounds - go to Exhibition Place. The CNE is a fair the runs on the grounds of Exhibition Place. Therefore information about the buildings/site history/stadiums etc - should be on Exhibition Place not this page.

This article deserves something more than 2 "paragraphs"! --Madchester 22:24, 2005 Mar 18 (UTC)

Have just added what I hope will be a framework for future development. Captmondo 16:38, 30 August 2005 (UTC)

Up until now I have concentrated on the permanent buildings on the CNE grounds, which will give a very skewed sense of what the CNE is itself largely about. Here's what I have in mind for future expansion of the topic:

- Intro paragraph (basically, a "what it is" statement) - History:

- Beginnings
- The 1920s & 1930s
- WWII (Training Camp)
- Modernist Era
- Dismantalling the Future (1980s and 1990s) (Header may be too POV, but in essence is about the scaling back/re-focus of the CNE operations and the taking down of many of its landmark structures)
- Present Day (ought to include summary of attendance figures, listing of current semi-permanent attractions, etc)

- Events:

- Warrior's Parade
- Air Show (likely a Cold War perspective)
- reference to other such events of more recent years, such as the First Nations Festival, Green Day (not the band ;-) etc.

- Buildings

- (basically as outlined in the listing already provided on the article itself)

Some questions that come to mind:

- should the building references just be short summaries and be re-situated as full articles on their own page?
- where's the balance between using this page as a focus as opposed to Exhibition Place?

I also have in mind coming up with at least one line-drawing showing the locations of buildings on the grounds, and contrast it to a similar map of what the grounds looked like 30 years ago, in order to give a sense of how it has developed/changed over time.

I would welcome any thoughts on the subject by more experienced Wikipedians... Captmondo 02:25, 18 September 2005 (UTC)

I really have nothing particularly bright or insightful to say; this overall looks pretty good to me apart from a couple of minor stylistic corrections. Bearcat 23:14, 21 September 2005 (UTC)

-- I moved all the CNE buildings to Exhibition Place - for Exhibition Place is the actual site where these building are located. The CNE is only one of many events that take place on the grounds each year. This page should only focus on the fair and it's history (which is quite extensive). Themepark February 2, 2005.

And next....I understand (THe Archetourist) the new Soccer stadium means that the Sports Hall of Fame (and original Hockey Hall of Fame) building is going to be razed this year....pity. Bacl-presby 17:11, 2 February 2006 (UTC)

The bulding and what has been in them while the Ex has been on should be listed on this page. Maybe a list of how they have chagned as well. It is a huge part of the Ex.

"Hogtown"

This article includes a claim that the nickname "Hogtown" has something to do with the CNE. This is opposed by other articles here on the wiki, and it's the first time I've heard of it. Can someone provide a ref, or should I just remove the claim? Maury 21:55, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

--- It should be deleted - I believe hogtown comes from the time and age when Toronto was the hub of pig slaughtering factories along the rail corridor. It used to be a booming business in T.O. Themepark

CNE Restaurants

CNE Restaurant's

Fast Food and Franchises

"Along with the introduction and other information, provided above, this additional article will include the various branches of yummy restaurants that are available at CNE. Part of the experience at CNE is getting to choose from the yummiest cultural edibles to the chilliest ice-cream the world of food has to offer. Usually this annual event is an all-day activity, consequently one has to eat in order to endure all the fun that is provided. CNE offers a variety of food choice. Usually the restaurants that choose to open are located surrounding the premises in either trailer trucks or mini-booths. The restaurants that open usually do for promotional purposes, you can also find new ideas being purposed there; the owners of such concepts, choose to introduce their ideas, in order to gain attraction and advertisement."

I was considering adding a forum, that allows restaurants or customers to give feed back on al unique foods that are available at CNE — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fie03 (talkcontribs) 18:07, 24 February 2013 (UTC)

A forum doesn't belong in Wikipedia. PKT(alk) 17:31, 13 March 2013 (UTC)

Verifiability Needed in Economic Impact Section

There needs to be more citations and verifiability in the Economic impact section as I would like to read more about how the Canadian National Exhibition has impacted the Canadian economy and the research supporting that. --DaisyDoesWiki (talk) 03:00, 2 October 2017 (UTC)

Lack of Citation

There is lack of the use of citation for verifiability in the section, Site. This should be revised as there is no source for the information published. --DaisyDoesWiki (talk) 02:51, 2 October 2017 (UTC)
