Temporary Seating

edit

Although the Grey Cup had 44,786 (or something) and was sold out, more seats could have been added. The stadium layout was different then the larger one. Both are possible, but 50,000 is the max.

Could you tell me where you got that information from, please, and tell me where they could have added on. I'm very interested. The official number with the added seating was what I originally put up. Disinclination 06:05, 3 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
Well, it was 50,000 for a long time before you changed it. The additional seats didn't go in the empty end zone, they went around the endzone with the curve. Look "Canad Inns Stadium" up on Google and you will see a picture of it. I will find you a source though. Sportyguy03 13:46, 3 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
I was merely going by the fact that in total it was 44,something. There were never any more seats added. But if you can find something, then go put it up (probably add it to the sentence in the article as well, something like "but the maximum capacity is 50,000" or whatnot), and I'll leave it alone. :) Disinclination 21:20, 3 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Canada Inns?

edit

It looks like Canada Inns? There's an A in the logo. --AW (talk) 16:50, 11 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

No, there is a tent/tipi thing. Trust me, I worked at one of the Hotels for 4 years. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.126.163.20 (talk) 20:07, 3 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Canad Inns StadiumWinnipeg Stadium – Known as "Winnipeg Stadium" for almost 50 years, then renamed as "Canad Inns Stadium" for the last 13 years of its existence. As a discussion at Talk:San Diego Stadium noted, in the case of former/demolished buildings, we should consider the entire lifespan of the building when deciding WP:COMMONNAME, not just the last name used. I'd argue that in this case, that brings us back to the original name. 162 etc. (talk) 04:56, 28 December 2023 (UTC) — Relisting. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 12:50, 4 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Comment, like the long use of the name could be assumed as the common name, but is there evidence? However, Ngrams doesn't even record the current name, so may be a sign that Winnipeg Stadium is the common name? DankJae 01:30, 29 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
Google results are mixed. I'll note that most internet results are likely from after 2001, which is when the name change happened. 162 etc. (talk) 18:18, 29 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
Support: Nom's rationale is valid. Also, taking a look at this February 1991 document (page 16), this 1970 newspaper archive and this 1999 document (page 16), it is clear that it has indeed been Winnipeg Stadium. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 12:49, 4 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Strong support. Same reasons as San Diego Stadium. O.N.R. (talk) 16:15, 4 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Support: The old/original name is likely going to gain more and more traction, referring to the stadium in an increasingly historical context. Also, a ProQuest search finds Winnipeg Stadium more common in magazines and trade journals; it it also more common in searches at the websites of newspapers Winnipeg Free Press and Winnipeg Sun. – Reidgreg (talk) 21:36, 4 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
