Article structure

I have some thoughts about the structure. I would have thought a more general overview/introduction would be more appropriate before delineating the roles of the main parties. Is that so? Also, I don't like all the italics for quotes. Makes reading a bit confusing. Homunculus (duihua) 15:31, 16 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

About the CCP propaganda, the only question I have is: is the information there confirmed by other sources? We should not quote what the CCP says as facts unless there is some corroborating source. I would understand the wish to delete the material if CCP documentation is the only thing available on this. Homunculus (duihua) 03:01, 28 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Homunculus, whenever possible, sources like Xinhua, People's Daily are to be avoided, as they have been proved to be telling lies and lies and lies. CCTV also need to be avoided.

I suggest you to go and remove this "Background" section.

According to who? Where does WP:RS state that Chinese state media sources can't be used? I don't see a problem as long as they're properly attributed.--PCPP (talk) 11:38, 28 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

The point is that content from Chinese state media is not used as fact, but as the opinion of the Chinese Communist Party on some matter only. Big difference. I am thinking of making an article on the Cult of Mao, in case either of you are interested in that topic. Homunculus (duihua) 06:42, 6 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Removed sources

edit

I've removed several these sources as they fail WP:RS, are improperly formatted, and largely consists of foreign language blogs and forums with little verification on scholarship.--PCPP (talk) 11:56, 28 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Infobox POV issues

edit

It looks like in May, IP 142.112.236.29 decided to change everything in the infobox to the ROC — instead of “Republic of China remnants,” for instance, they wrote “Central Government remnants;” instead of “People’s Republic of China” they put Kuomintang China with the Nationalist Chinese flag and listed it as “occupied.”

I personally prefer the Nationalist government over the Communist one for a variety of reasons (one of which is this counterrevolutionary suppression campaign), but I also feel that listing China as occupied in the infobox and calling the Kuomintang government (which by then had been based in Taiwan for around a year) the “Central Government” just comes off as POV and not objective. However, this edit’s been here for a while and no one’s changed it, so I don’t know if there’s already a consensus on this matter — if there isn’t, may I revert it? @Marcustcii: I have reverted related edits. Seems to be KMT/Republican era POV pusher. ときさき くるみ not because they are easy, but because they are hard 22:56, 20 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
