Pronunciation
editThe IPA says both a's in "Camas" are pronounced like the a in "father", "Cah mahs". If the correct vowel is the one in "cat" (which is my guess), that's æ. —JerryFriedman 05:08, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
- As a resident of Camas, I feel entirely qualified to inform you that your guess is correct. Also, the second "a" is pronounced to rhyme with "this", although sometimes you will also hear the second "a" to rhyme with "bus". I'm no pronounciation expert, but I would spell out the pronounciation as either Kæmis of Kæmus. Fjbfour 07:56, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you, kind sir or madam. Then the schwa (ə) that I just inserted should be close enough. (Not to get deeply into a subject about which I have a strong and probably wrong opinion, but this is supposed to mean the way most Americans say the "a" in "about", the "e" in "loaded", the "i" in "basis", the "o" in "lemon", and the "u" in "circus"—and according to many linguists, the "u" in "bus". Does that work?) —JerryFriedman 04:23, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, I think it's fine Jerry. My amateur approximation, at its simplest, would be kam-us. It's also the same as the Camas plant, so if there's an IPA guide there, you can probably steal it. VanTucky (talk) 04:25, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
I live in Camas as well, it is pronounced Kam- (a as in I am) -is (short s) --24.20.218.65 (talk) 07:51, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
Paper mill
editThe article doesn't come out and say it, but as I recall, it's a good thing Camas is a fair distance east of Portland, i.e. downwind. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 22:20, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
The mill doesn't smell anymore. 67.189.9.6 (talk) 03:57, 14 July 2011 (UTC)
The mill still dose smell Jerry Henderson (talk) 12:37, 26 November 2016 (UTC)

West Camas Slough Bridge.
editI think that making a page about this would be a good suggestion and if I can I will make it. Jerry Henderson (talk) 12:35, 26 November 2016 (UTC)

Removed May 2017 tag
editSaw no original research in the article at the time of removal. Citations are of various sources and worded in summary style. Sourcing is needed for some factual statements, but does not apply to the whole page.
Coupled with the tag having been unexplained for 6.5 years by an inactive editor, removal of {original research} template is warranted.TheGREYHORSE (talk) 03:49, 8 December 2023 (UTC)
