  • "Good monsoon conditions can extend breeding" My understanding is that the "monsoon" is restricted to south and south east Asia. I am not entirely sure what you are trying to say, so I am hesitant to change this. Would 'Heavy seasonal rainfall can extend breeding' be OK by you? Thanks. Gog the Mild, Howdy hello! Thanks for taking on this copy edit, I much appreciate it. Seasonal rainfall works; I say Monsoon because many in the southwestern US also call the period of rain the "monsoons", including I believe the source I got it from. But I understand the confusion and agree with the solution. Captain Eek Edits Ho Cap'n! 18:58, 19 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
  • "Nests are built in cacti (notably ... " What is notable about them? Do you mean 'commonly'?
Commonly works, yes. I think I probable wrote notable because WP is always harping about notability and the word was in my head :) 19:01, 19 October 2019 (UTC)
Both done. A fine article. Looks like a lot of work has gone into it. Ping me when you nominate it and if RL permits I'll review it. Gog the Mild (talk) 19:05, 19 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
Giving it a last look over, I noticed that the image "File:Cactus wren in tree.jpeg"/In Tucson, Arizona creates a MOS:SANDWICH. I recommend moving it down to the start of "Subspecies". Similarly, the first two images in "Breeding and nesting" create a sandwich; one needs to be moved. Gog the Mild (talk) 19:23, 19 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Feeding

edit

The 'Feeding' section contains language that potentially plagiarizes or closely paraphrases language used in Animal Diversity Web (here); see this comparison. This language was added to the article in 2007 (diff), so I cannot tell whether Wikipedia or Animal Diversity Web is the original source. Currently, the article cites multiple other sources to support the information, but if Animal Diversity Web was the original source for this language, then this article needs to use alternative phrasing. -- Black Falcon (talk) 20:11, 9 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Black Falcon, Thanks for pointing that out, I have reworked that paragraph. Not sure why it hadn't come up before in Earwigs? I definitely had run it before, and it got a through checking during the FA. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n! 22:04, 9 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
I certainly trust that you had checked, seeing as the article is featured, and could only speculate about why it did not come up before. In any case, thank you for reworking the affected language. -- Black Falcon (talk) 03:30, 10 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Can't say I see a need to do so, this page hasn't been moved in a long time, and it isn't the target of much vandalism. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n! 09:46, 15 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
