WikiProject COVID-19

edit

I've created WikiProject COVID-19 as a temporary or permanent WikiProject and invite editors to use this space for discussing ways to improve coverage of the ongoing 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic. Please bring your ideas to the project/talk page. Stay safe, --Another Believer (Talk) 17:38, 15 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

I am new to Wikipedia editing. I am an American living in Prague right now. Apologies if I do anything wrong here. I would like to find a way beyond daily percent increase to show when infection rates are accelerating and decelerating. The right visual might help calm folks and give them hope when things are in fact improving, despite large increases/totals in absolute numbers. Most people don't understand than when the daily percent increases go steadily down, that means we're winning and the virus is being contained. Happy to play around here with this a bit on the Czech page and maybe come up with something that can be carried over to updates for other countries. Fix the table

edit

Can someone please fix the table so that the last day is not in two rows (recoveries one row; cases second row)? Thanks. WikiHannibal (talk) 08:55, 19 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Why aren't graphs binded to Wikidata?

edit

Is there any specific reason, why aren't graphs in page binded to Wikidata please? Přemysl Šťastný 14:46, 19 March 2020 (UTC)

Timeline: regroup by weeks

edit

The Contents has become quite long (and is likely to lengthen further). Proposal: regroup it by weeks (e.g. starting from the week 10: 2nd March – 8 March). Someone to agree ar disagree? Vlakovod (talk) 15:47, 29 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Strongly agree. Cimmerian praetor (talk) 17:07, 2 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
Done. Check, pls. Vlakovod (talk) 05:17, 3 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Table of daily cases - percentage of infected

edit

Could someone please add percantage of identified positive infections to number of tests done by day? Cimmerian praetor (talk) 17:09, 2 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

I've tried, check in the Article, pls. Vlakovod (talk) 04:27, 3 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
Hi User:Vlakovod, maybe I did not get it (again) but User:Cimmerian praetor asked for the percentage of tested positive divided by tested total for each day. This percentage seems to be important (cf. https://www.novinky.cz/zahranicni/koronavirus/clanek/pocet-zachytu-covid-19-denne-klesa-jdeme-spravnym-smerem-rika-dusek-40319280 in Czech) In any case, even the nubmer of tests per day would help. What you added has already been in the chart, am I right? In that case, no need to repeat that in the table. WikiHannibal (talk) 13:44, 3 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
You are right, WikiHannibal. First, I will repare my activity. Vlakovod (talk) 13:56, 3 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
I've added the row to the table. Is this what you meant? Or, is it better in some chart? Vlakovod (talk) 12:08, 4 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
Yes, it is. Thanks! Not sure about the chart - it would be easier/faster to grasp but I do not know how much work it takes. WikiHannibal (talk) 08:36, 5 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

User:Vlakovod, many thanksCimmerian praetor (talk) 07:28, 7 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Curve comparison

edit

Thanks for the new comparison, certainly it is better than the previous one. But what does it say to the reader? It shows the absolute number of cases, making certain curves similar (e.g. Slovakia nad Japan), while compared to the population, the two countries epidemic progressed differently. Not sure if, without further (expert) explanation, the comparison is beneficial. WikiHannibal (talk) 15:38, 3 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Template: multiple issues

edit

Someone added Template: multiple issues. However it seems that none are raise here in the talk section. Please either specify what issues should be addressed or delete that template. Cimmerian praetor (talk) 07:28, 7 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

It was added here diff and not removed after the problem was resolved. +Not sure if the Current disaster template should be considered an issue, making multiple issues template appropriate in the first place. WikiHannibal (talk) 11:57, 7 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Table Date format

edit

Why is the sortable table about a European country using little endian text date instead of ISO Date? At minimum we should try to make it sortable even if leaving as is: https://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Help:Sorting#Date_table_sorting_template:_Day_and_month,_Many_other_date_formats 198.52.130.148 (talk) 06:36, 8 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Deletion of remdesivir use

edit

User:Buidhe, please explain your deletion of part mentioning use of remdesivir.Cimmerian praetor (talk) 07:14, 11 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Cimmerian praetor, Please see WP:NOTCASE. WP:MEDRS compliant sources would be needed for any medical information as well. buidhe 16:16, 11 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
Buidhe I very politely asked you to make your case for deletion. Throwing around links to policies that span whole pages is not an argument. Either make your point or revert back. Cimmerian praetor (talk) 17:36, 11 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Repair of Reproduction Table with R values

edit

Can please someone repair the table with the "R" Values (for the reproduction values) down there. Thanks in advance — Preceding unsigned comment added by 46.149.119.201 (talk) 13:11, 11 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Is it possible to add the y-axis R numbers to the right hand side of the table? Or make the horizontal lines more visible? Thanks, WikiHannibal (talk) 08:10, 13 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Development of R ratio in the Czech Republic

edit

In the graph, please add a darker line for R=1 horizontal, would make it easier to see the value of R0. (I did it by adding a constant R=1 gray graph, but someone reverted it). A week later... ok, trying again. Here's how I did it:

Good idea, thx.

citations in English

Could someone please translate the citation titles into English from Cz, putting them inside the paramater |trans-title=? Thanks. -- Ohc ¡digame! 10:24, 14 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Incorrect information about foreigner residence permit types

edit

The current article mentions "foreigners with long-term or permanent residency permits" several times which in my understanding is incorrect. Taking for example referenced "Government Resolution No. 198/2020 Coll.", its section I.5 says "zakáz občanům České republiky a cizincům s trvalým nebo přechodnym pobytem". trvalý translates to permanent, přechodný translates to temporary. It does not mean long-term or permanent but that is the current translation throughout the article. --Malyacko (talk) 22:14, 14 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Zdeněk Hřib

edit

I heard on Spanish TV that the mayor of Prague Zdeněk Hřib, who is a physician and studied in Taiwan, brought along the Taiwanese experience in dealing with COVID-19, being one of the reasons why CR tested a lot and required masks. Can you confirm? --Error (talk) 19:10, 24 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

No. Seems really far-fetched. WikiHannibal (talk) 07:45, 5 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Lethality by gender and age?

edit

Anyone willing to add a table like Template:2019–20 coronavirus pandemic data/Italy medical cases based on data at https://onemocneni-aktualne.mzcr.cz/covid-19? Ain92 (talk) 21:44, 25 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Added something like that. ViitTek (talk) 17:13, 12 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Revision of numbers

edit

Recently, the numbers (esp. number of recovered people) in the table and chart were challenged as not according to the source, and rightly so. That it quite a large number of data to be checked, and it may take some time, so it would be wise of editors making partial corrections to record their edits here (table vs chart, period, and type of the cases). Thanks, WikiHannibal (talk) 07:42, 5 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

I will try to make revision twice or three times a week. ViitTek (talk) 17:21, 12 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Summary information contains an irrelevant factoid

edit

The summary at the top of the article ends with "By 1 May 2020, altogether 257 COVID-19-related deaths were identified in the Czech Republic compared to 2,719 in similarly populous Sweden, which did not impose a full lockdown."

This gives the incorrect impression that a high death rate is caused by not imposing a full lock down. The correlation between a high death rate and no full lock down may be true, but since N=1, the causality is dubious. This is a political/subjective statement that should be removed since it does not add any relevant information. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 148.64.26.129 (talk) 14:24, 28 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Statistics March – August

edit

I suggest deleting the second table in the section "Statistics March – August" and merging with the "Statistics" section. ViitTek (talk) 22:27, 2 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Statistics (Charts)

edit

Let me to suggest the removing of the "Recovered per day" Chart (green curve). The same is in the next chart (yellow/green/black).

Splitting the article

edit

I want to move the 'Timeline' or 'Statistics' section into a new article. If agreed, what section do you prefer to be transferred? zsteve21 (talk) 20:06, 14 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

The timeline could be moved, but it should be done by someone familiar with the article, not you. Splitting of articles is something that needs to be done with care and by someone familiar with the content. Drive-by-splitting is appreciated by no one. Consider Moving the table

edit

This table is huge and significantly lengthens the page, providing useful but difficult to read information. would this best be served on its own page? Hawgbak (talk) 06:56, 19 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
