editDid Flea actually sing backing vocals on this? Also, Chad should have drum machine listed under his name. Thoughts? AddingInstruments (talk) 09:07, 30 May 2017 (UTC)
Removal of B-sides list
editCan someone explain why the list of known b-sides from this era was removed? Egg Creations 18:01, 18 March 2006 (UTC)
Petition mention?
editAn online petition with 1007 signatures couldn't get the CEO of WB to put ham instead of turkey on his sandwich tomorrow. Is there any reason to have it in the article? --Calamari 02:16, 8 December 2005 (UTC)
I changed the formatting of this section to match that of Stadium Arcadium's page, it looks a bit cleaner and has more info like where the song can be found on an official release. I have the CD singles so I added the song length from the inlay as some of them were wrong. JedEgan 22:21, 6 June 2006 (UTC)
Nope
edit"The album has produced hit singles, such as the title track, "By the Way", "Can't Stop", "The Zephyr Song" and "Throw Away Your Television"."
"Throw Away Your Television" wasn't a single. -Macarion 19:54, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
Dave Sheridan
editI have a question. Dave Sheridan played the deranged guy in the By The Way and Universally Speaking videos, but it says in his bio that he was born in 1923 and died in 1982. Is it just some guy with the same name? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tsurugi (talk • contribs) 04:29, 4 September 2006
- Yes. The article you were looking at was for Dave Sheridan (cartoonist). The person in the videos is Dave Sheridan (actor). I have set up a disambiguation page to help sort this out. --GentlemanGhost (talk) 19:05, 5 November 2008 (UTC)
Flea
editAnyone got a source for that quote by him? I want to put in the Live in Hyde Park article, but I don't wanna to throw it in there un-referenced. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Stratpod (talk • contribs) 22:51, 25 January 2007 (UTC).
GA
editSuccessful good article nomination
editI am glad to say that this article which was nominated for good article status has succeeded. This is how the article, as of June 5, 2007, compares against the six good article criteria:
- 1. Well written?: ya
- 2. Factually accurate?: Well done
- 3. Broad in coverage?: Yeah
- 4. Neutral point of view?: Yes
- 5. Article stability? Only one editor mainly...but it's ok
- 6. Images?: Fine
If you feel that this review is in error, feel free to take it to a GA review. Thank you to all of the editors who worked hard to bring it to this status. — G1ggy! Review me! 04:45, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
- I'm surprised this was passed as a GA personally. My main issue is with its broadness of coverage; how can a multi-platinum album be broadly covered in 805 words (5kb) of prose? There's no information on its release (where? when? by who?), and the promotional photo doesn't appear to be criticised in the article. However, I am being negative - it's a good read and a good start. CloudNine 21:03, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
Genre
editthis album is for sure more "pop rock" than "funk rock" ..apart 2-3 songs where is "funk"??. If u don't want to see "pop rock" (ohhhh so bad word..) at least delete "funk rock"... Zagozagozago
- it's not up to us to decide, we use what the sources tell us. Kamryn Matika 02:47, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
You need sources to know if a record is funk of pop-rock ? Don't you have EARS ????? This habit of always asking for sources on Wikipedia is just ridiculous for the music and movies. I don't care if the RHCP themselves say it's funk, it's not, period.
- Perhaps it is you that has no ears, as a good amount of this bands songs are indeed "funk rock," and certainly a reasonable proportion of the songs on By the Way contain elements of "funk." As for "pop rock," I personally can't see it on this album (Stadium Arcadium definitely, but not By the Way), but if there are reliable sources that say otherwise then it should be labelled as such. --LeakeyJee 05:17, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
some possible sources
edit- Entertainment Weekly review published on CNN
- Stylus magazine - pretty critical ("This is truly one of the most stunningly awful albums released by a major band ever." - lol)
will probably add some more later - going to try and use material from these in the article but if anyone else wants to jump in and incorporate it feel free. imho if we're going to give a balanced view of the album's reception we need to point out the views from msot major critics. ArticleHistory
editThanks for updating the {{ArticleHistory}} template on the FA, but doing the work partially actually causes more work for the Bot. If you don't mind waiting, as expalined at {{fac}}, GimmeBot will come through and do it correctly. There are more steps than meets the eye. Thanks, SandyGeorgia (Talk) 23:38, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
flea's feelings during recording
editIt's fairly well known that Flea was extreemly unhappy during the recording of this album due to John almost taking complete control of the direction of the Chili Peppers sound, and even thought about leaving the band. I think that this is a very importand aspect of the recording process and should be added into the article, but I have no idea where it could slot in, perhaps after it says that John thought that the recording was a happy process? What is everyone's opinion on this? --LeakeyJee 02:09, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
