Merger proposal
editI propose that Bulletproof Coffee be merged into Bulletproof diet. This content there is mostly promotional, and I have already merged what was useful there to this article. The merge/redirect has been contested, hence this more formal approach. Jytdog (talk) 03:55, 29 December 2016 (UTC)
- Merge and redirect Bulletproof Coffee here. Can build on more useful core; and the diet is the basis of notability for the coffee product. — soupvector (talk) 04:12, 29 December 2016 (UTC)
- No, the coffee was notable long before the diet existed. Dicklyon (talk) 22:47, 10 January 2017 (UTC)
- Keep Bulletproof Coffee, which predates and is more well known than the diet, contrary to what soupvector asserts above about basis for notability. Per this cited source from 2013, the coffee recipe was already well known and widely discussed more than two years before the diet book came out. Dicklyon (talk) 04:40, 29 December 2016 (UTC)
- Do you oppose a merger of the two subjects? Or would it be satisfactory to you if the diet was merged into the coffee article? WhatamIdoing (talk) 05:03, 29 December 2016 (UTC)
- They seem distinct enough to me, but merging that direction, if at all, might be better. I think the diet is less notable, and that article was created by a one-contribution editor. Dicklyon (talk) 05:25, 29 December 2016 (UTC)

- Definitely merge. The only question is should we also merge in the person Dave Asprey? Not sure he is notable independent of his product. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 05:46, 29 December 2016 (UTC)
- Merge to Dave Asprey. I think that is currently the best catch-all for the man and his products. Sizeofint (talk) 05:57, 29 December 2016 (UTC)
- Merge somehow - lots of bitty articles. Wouldn't mind a Bulletproof (brand) article for all of 'em, including Asprey. Alexbrn (talk) 15:02, 29 December 2016 (UTC)
- This isn't a bad idea. Sizeofint (talk) 20:01, 29 December 2016 (UTC)
- merge per nominators rationale--Ozzie10aaaa (talk) 10:23, 29 December 2016 (UTC)
- Merge to Dave Asprey. Having all these articles merged will give a better overview of the man, his methods, the products he hawks, and the connections between them. ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 15:46, 29 December 2016 (UTC)
- Merge it - it reads as if the same article — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.130.36.231 (talk) 06:38, 25 February 2017 (UTC)
Discussion
editWhat is the reason for all these merge suggestions? The Bulletproof Coffee article has 22 reliable sources. Is notability being questioned, or what? Dicklyon (talk) 06:49, 29 December 2016 (UTC)
- I don't think anyone is disputing notability. Just based on the amount of content it seems best to combine these related topics into a single article. If that article becomes too big we can break them out into separate articles again. Sizeofint (talk) 19:59, 29 December 2016 (UTC)
- That's my impression as well. It's only a notability question in the sense of "using our best editorial judgment, do we believe that people would be better educated about this subject if they read about the coffee that inspired the diet and the diet that uses the coffee on the same page?", not in the "not much attention from the world at large" sense. Comment I think it worth creating a Bulletproof as a company page which covers these and then leave the Dave Asprey page as it is. I will be willing to work on such an article. Emir of Wikipedia (talk) 21:52, 11 January 2017 (UTC)
