Writing Styles

edit

This page was mostly derived from the Black Stone Cherry bio on their official website. Being so it is very informal and it should probably have some of its sentences rewritten. Go to any other article on a band you'll notice the members are referred to by their last names and not their first names. I've already rewritten some of it. -Me412

Cleanup Needed

edit

The cleanup process is now complete.
I'd like to thank Y2kcrazyjoker4 for fixing the NPOV issues -Me412

This page reads like a press release. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.150.53.130 (talk) 23:45, 17 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Someone really needs to clean this up. It needs sections. Gopherbassist 20:11, 8 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
It also seems a bit on the 'Not NPOV' side to me.
This article reads like a set of liner notes. I like the band too, but it doesn't sound particularly objective. -Unquist
It basically is, actually; the entire main section was copied from http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/artists/BlackStoneCherry/bio.aspx
Not only is the info on http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/artists/BlackStoneCherry/bio.aspx but its also the bio page on http://www.blackstonecherry.com/, the official Black Stone Cherry website. Of course the info on the Black Stone Cherry website isn't going to have a neutral point of view. -Me412
This is awful. I reformatted it to the sections it had from the original site to make it read a little eaiser but the entire info section now seems to try to convince anyone reading this article that black stone cherry is a great band. Just facts please. I am also recording down that the user with the ip address 208.38.52.210 is responsible for all of this. -Me412
Don't get me wrong, I love the band. But if someone actually picked out the relevant info in this article, the middle section might be two paragraphs long. Really, really needs to be cleaned up. -shimmymonkey

Genre?

edit

Yes, the band definitely draws influence from southern rock, but wouldn't they fit better into a category like alternative metal or post-grunge? Yes, they're southern, but they're heavier and more mainstream than your average southern rock band. If I don't hear any responses, I'll change it myself, but I want some opinions.

Maybe more genres could be added rather than changing the current one. Many say they sound the way that Skynyrd would have probably sounded growing up under modern influences, and don't ask me to cite that. -Me412
Ok it seems someone came up with the bright idea of changing the genres in the box to "Hard Rock" and "Heavy Metal". I don't necessarily agree with that, but I'm not going to change it for now. -Me412
Black Stone Cherry is not alternative or post-grunge in any way. Yes, they're modern-sounding, but if compared to a post-grunge band like Nickelback, there are strong differences. As stated above, they're a modern Lynyrd Skynyrd at best, with strong comparisons to The Black Crowes and Led Zeppelin, and AC/DC to a lesser extent. What Black Stone Cherry is, in essense, is a southern hard rock/metal band. Nothing more, nothing less. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.81.243.250 (talk) 23:21, 5 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Style

edit

Definately Southern Rock though they are much heavier than most bands of this ilk and do draw a lot from metal bands like The Black Label Society. I would keep Heavy Metal in there as they do fit into this broad genre from a musical point of view, general fanbase and coverage , ie Heavy Metal/Hard Rock magazines & music channels. Going with the : if it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck and has it's pictures in duck magazines then it probably is a duck.

More cleanup

edit

I've rewritten some of this article to fix tone issues and a few other things. The trivia section (which is usually discouraged) has been integrated into the article, and a distinguish template has been added to the top of both this and the article on CherryBlackStone to prevent confusion. I've also redirected the two band members' articles to this one, since neither one contained any unique information that wasn't already here. The article still needs a little work and rewording, so if anyone has any ideas, feel free (I'm not familiar with the band's music, personally, so didn't add any content). *Vendetta* (whois talk edits) 19:28, 22 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
