"(See Wylam Riots 1919)"
editI took this note out, since there isn't a Wikipedia article or a page online that I could find that references them. The Wylam article at B'ham Wiki mentions strikes between 1894 and 1921 and the National Guard coming in in 1919 and 1921. Fishlandia (talk) 13:06, 5 January 2018 (UTC)

New infobox images
editOn a bleak, overcast, winter day last weekend, User:WeaponizingArchitecture walked around Birmingham with their cellphone taking pictures. They then deleted all the photos in the infobox, and replaced them with their own.
The quality of WeaponizingArchitecture's photos is poor, as typically happens with cellphone photos without a tripod, and the lighting is a grey sky. Their images are not an improvement, per MOS:IMAGEQUALITY, or a better illustrative aid, per MOS:IMAGERELEVANCE.
The input of others would be appreciated.

- Aight im gonna be honest, the first part was just rude. I don't have control over the weather forecast, and i don't have the money for the best photography equipment in the world.
- Needless to say, Birmingham isn't 100% clear skies sunshine year round to begin with. If you want me to replace some of the pictures, that's okay. But some of these pictures are really old

- Please don't play the victim, and blame the weather and a lack of money. You decided to edit war to keep all these photos. I just want the input of others. Magnolia677 (talk) 22:48, 28 February 2023 (UTC)
- I'm not playing the victim, I said it was rude because the way you worded it came off as rude. WeaponizingArchitecture | scream at me 23:21, 28 February 2023 (UTC)

- Regardless, @Magnolia677 do you think this would work out well? WeaponizingArchitecture | scream at me 23:40, 28 February 2023 (UTC)
- I would like the original photos restored. The new panorama is not an improvement over the skyline that was visible in the original Elaisbaby (talk) 22:10, 7 May 2023 (UTC)
@WeaponizingArchitecture: I have included below the photos you suggested in the link above:
My suggestions from left to right are:
- The panorama image of the city is recent, but still does not appear an improvement over the previous photo. Even after I tweaked to new photo on my own, and corrected the white balance, it still did not appear to be an improvement.
- This seems like the best image of the Vulcan Statue.
- The Alabama Theater photo is nice.
- Your version of city hall is the best on the Commons.
- The photo of the Benjamin Russell Hospital for Children is nice, but the hospital is not mentioned in the article (but neither is the Wachovia building on the previous photo).
- The photo of the art gallery looks the best.
These are just my opinions about how to improve the infobox gallery. The input of others would be appreciated. Magnolia677 (talk) 12:13, 2 March 2023 (UTC)
- Alright, got it. WeaponizingArchitecture | scream at me 13:04, 2 March 2023 (UTC)
- To be honest, the city hall picture does somewhat scream "perspective distortion" to me, though. JanTH (talk) 21:08, 7 May 2023 (UTC)
- … so I did try an attempt at fixing that perspective distortion. Hope it's alright with you. JanTH (talk) 08:29, 17 May 2023 (UTC)
2011 tornado
editShould the EF4 tornado that struck Birmingham on April 27, 2011 be mentioned on this article? NintendoTTTEfan2005 (talk) 17:25, 10 January 2024 (UTC)
- Details on Birmingham damage and impact should probably be added in the main article, 2011 Tuscaloosa–Birmingham tornado first and then summarized in this article. -Fnlayson (talk) 18:19, 10 January 2024 (UTC)
What happened to interstate - 59? |/:).
editWhat happened to interstate - 59; this new interstate - 69 is totally confusing!! |/:). 208.87.239.202 (talk) 22:40, 20 February 2024 (UTC)
- The I-459 bypass in Birmingham metro might be the newer one. I-59 passes thru the state diagonally (NW to SE). See File:Map of Alabama terrain NA.jpg for interstates and major highways in the state. -Fnlayson (talk) 23:35, 20 February 2024 (UTC)
early industrial history.
editThe current article state "Birmingham is the only place worldwide where significant amounts of all three minerals can be found in close proximity". But the Ironbridge Gorge area in England was already famous for having those 3 minerals, and indeed Birmingham was founded in an attempt to duplicate the industrial success at that British location. 199.129.221.143 (talk) 16:12, 15 October 2024 (UTC)
