My source for changes is the Oxford Companion to Chess, 2d ed. 1992. It lists Horwitz's date of birth as 1808.
Horwitz was German in nationality, so I changed the statement that he was a leading English player, as that was misleading, he wasn't English. The article makes it clear that he played in England. Horwitz was not all that strong, and even if he beaten Staunton, nobody would have called him World Champion. ChessPlayer 09:02, 4 Mar 2004 (UTC)
