This page needs some work--it completely fails to mention that C. Thomas Patten was a con artist who was convicted of fraud and sent to prison in 1950. The Pattens were enriching themselves with the funds from the ministry. The Pattens' story of fraud is told in Jay Robert Nash's classic Hustlers and Con Men book, as well as in the last chapter of Maria Konnikova's recent book, The Confidence Game.
