The cross by Butler in the infobox

edit

I'm thinking that the cross in the infobox is not applicable to this article. The reason is the infobox covers just the Battle of Johnstown, but Butler died several days later in a skirmish at a different location. I thought to gain consensus before any removal, though. I don't mean to overstep, but I've removed the cross. I did this because I opened this proposal a month ago, and alerted the main editor of the article, and there has been no response (main editor has been inactive for a few weeks now). If anyone disagrees with my deletion, please do undo and if it is ok please could you leave a message explaining your rationale. Otumba (talk) 19:43, 8 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, I go through periods where I can't be too active - real world related. The change is fine with me, it certainly is more accurate to remove the cross. Geraldk (talk) 18:32, 2 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Continental troops involved?

edit

This is nicely done--I was looking at it because I've been researching the NH Line regiments, and had been going through the pension records on Footnote.com for the officers. I found that Capt David McGregore of the 2nd NH regiment claimed to have been at the Battle of Johnstown. The 2nd NH regiment (minus two light infantry companies) was garrisoned at West Point at the time. Any ideas as to how that could have been possible? edit

The only source given for this article is a book by Berry which I have not been able to locate. There are no references for specific facts, just the same reference at the end of each paragraph. Also, I have no reason to doubt the scholarship, but I know that Trafford publishing was a self-publishing house. Consequently, the article badly needs additional sources.
