Population
editFrom Ayacucho, Peru:
- Ayacucho has a population of 32,000 people.
From Ayacucho:
- (...) 140,000 inhabitants.
Any idea?--Edcolins 10:37, Aug 8, 2004 (UTC)
According to the Instituto Nacional de Estadistica e Informatica, the population of the city of Ayacucho (also known as Huamanga) was 185,640 in 2000. I've heard that it has surpassed 200,000 since then. --67.142.130.14 02:59, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
Incorrect Image, and image caption
editThe image of the "Willkaman" cathedral is improperly placed here. That building is the main church of Vilcashuaman, which is not part of the city of Ayacucho, but is a town further south in the Ayacucho Department, in the Province of Cangallo. 67.101.41.239 17:56, 8 July 2007 (UTC)JRF
Sendero Luminoso???
editI realize this is an article about a department in Peru, but it is difficult to overstate the (negative) impact that Sendero Luminoso Ayacucho had in the region. There were years and years of violence and terrorism there, and the article doesn't even mention it. It directly affected everyone who lives there today. --160.133.1.228 (talk) 16:09, 25 February 2011 (UTC)

Terrorism. Shining Path. Sendero Luminoso
editAyacucho was the most damaged area by terrorism in Peru. People like Abimael Guzman, Morote Best and Osman Morote are responsible for the death of thousands of Peruvians in that area. It is incredible that the largest criminal organization in Peruvian history is not mentioned 2605:8D80:6E0:EA3D:4153:5CA1:45B1:C959 (talk) 18:58, 10 October 2023 (UTC)
