Removed the 1,555 population figure as it has no basis in fact. Anyone familiar with the Augusta area can attest to the fact that the census is incorrect as much as it is thoroughly unreasonable. Augusta consists of about ten houses, a bank, and a roadside flower stand. A railroad freight depot was the only reason this town appears on maps. I suspect the Census Bureau drew a 2-3 mile line from the Augusta post office (which, ironically isn't anywhere near Augusta) then used that line as a diameter for a circle and assumed that the population within that huge circle constituted the hamlet that we know as Augusta. Incorrect and illogical, and as thus it has no place in such an article. --ExplorerCDT 11:07, 10 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- Sorry, did not realize you had first-hand information (I live in Washington state). No need to be grouchy or anything. Bumm13 12:59, 10 Nov 2004 (UTC)
