Improvement per WP:LABELDEFINITION

edit

Hey all,

I had made an edit last month to improve short description and label on this page per Wikipedia:Crime labels , and added discussion on talk page of user who had originally added this edit. However, both my edit and user's talk page topic was reverted by third user citing 'misleading edit summary' but no merit or discussion on quality of edit itself.

Adding label in the lead and short description gives undue weight WP:UNDUE to single event. Wiki essay states : crime labels are value-laden statement. The word "convicted" is added to emphasize. Not only is this POV, the sort of thing a trial lawyer or reporter might do, it obscures the true nature of the crime and instead labels the person...

I have also checked for other Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons in Indian context, and none of the articles on Sanjay Dutt, Salman Khan, Kuldeep Singh Sengar or Lalu Prasad Yadav use conviction to label the person. The information on conviction is however carried in second or third lead paragraphs uniformly.

Think we should remove the labeling in lead as details of conviction continue to remain in info box and elsewhere?
