Removal
editRemoved false claim that all of Chapman's pitches in his 1 and 1/3 innings of work on September 24th, 2010 were above 102 MPH. Left fielder Ryan Ludwick flied out for the first out in the 8th inning on a pitch that was recorded at 100 MPH as clearly seen in this video: [1] Axion22 (talk) 10:15, 2 December 2010 (UTC)
Fastest "recorded" pitch
editAlthough he has thrown the fastest pitches ever seen according to radar guns installed in the ball parks, it is deceptive to say that these are the fastest pitches ever recorded since Major League Baseball does not officially record pitch speeds. There are no rules set forth to make sure these radar machines are properly calibrated to a set standard for all parks. It has also been proven that at times when a road team with a pitcher known to throw fast, an "away" park will recalibrate their guns so it appears the fast pitcher is throwing slower than he actually is in order to throw off his game. In may opinion the wording should be changed since these are not officially recorded stats. That being said, CONGRATULATIONS ON 106! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.79.33.185 (talk) 02:32, 19 April 2011 (UTC)
- He hasn't actually hit 105 even. The fastest recorded by cameras said it was 102. The guns at the stadium aren't really calibrated properly most the time, so they can't be believed 99% 0f the time.----~~RedsHater
Citizenship
He is a dual-citizen. Hence Andorran-Cuban — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rmumms28 (talk • contribs) 17:28, 31 July 2011 (UTC)

- The Chicago Tribune, the New York Times, Sports Illustrated, and ESPN are all reporting this. Wikipedia is behind the curve in more ways than one. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 21:47, 8 December 2016 (UTC)
- @Baseball Bugs: No, they're all reporting that an agreement has been made that is pending a physical. Surely you know players have failed physicals and had their deals nixed. – Muboshgu (talk) 21:52, 8 December 2016 (UTC)
- Then the article should say that. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 22:37, 8 December 2016 (UTC)

- That's as far as we can go. The second paragraph of the NY Times article is as such... – Muboshgu (talk) 22:56, 8 December 2016 (UTC)

"The deal was confirmed by a person briefed on the agreement who requested anonymity because the deal had not been completed. Chapman must pass a physical to make it official."
- Excellent. Wikipedia is no longer behind the curve on this story. :) ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 23:11, 8 December 2016 (UTC)

Citizenship
editThe Article mentions Chapman as an Cuban-American baseball player and that he defected from Cuba. But what citizenship does he hold momentarily? Hoffmansk 09:58, 16 March 2017 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hoffmansk (talk • contribs)
Questions
editHow/when did he play high school baseball in Virginia? Article called him a Cuban-American, when did he become a citizen? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.87.72.132 (talk) 01:51, 23 May 2017 (UTC)
- (1) He never played high school baseball in Virginia. That was vandalism. Thank you for bringing it to our attention. (2) He became a U.S. citizen in April 2016. The cited article says so, but the article didn't. Now it does. – Muboshgu (talk) 02:22, 23 May 2017 (UTC)
