Antonie van Leeuwenhoek was a good articles nominee, but did not meet the good article criteria at the time. There may be suggestions below for improving the article. Once these issues have been addressed, the article can be renominated. Editors may also seek a reassessment of the decision if they believe there was a mistake.

In the following sentence:
"Van Leeuwenhoek has been attributed as the first person to use a histological stain to color specimens observed under the microscope using saffron."
The word "attributed" is improperly used. "Acknowledged" would be more appropriate here. —Or perhaps the wording could be changed to: "The first use of a histological stain (he used saffron) to color specimens under the microscope has been attributed to van Leeuwenhoek." 2001:5B0:270F:3228:3147:99FB:E9E0:82FA (talk) 16:46, 6 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Should it be "van Leeuwenhoek" or "Van Leeuwenhoek"? I think it should consistently be spelled "van Leeuwenhoek", but the article is inconsistent. Bueller 007 (talk) 22:27, 28 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
It should be "Van Leeuwenhoek" when his first name is not mentioned (which he himself spelled as Antoni, btw, without the E at the end), and "van Leeuwenhoek" when his first name is mentioned. So it's either "Antoni van Leeuwenhoek crossed the road", or "Van Leeuwenhoek crossed the road".
