AMS/ASP ???

The initials AMS and ASP (but not AMSP) seem to be used in the article with the same meaning, but with no comment or explanation. This could do with clarification from someone who knows the topic. Pol098 (talk) 18:57, 10 June 2021 (UTC)

You are right,Pol098 it looked that way. I have edited the page a bit.

AMS is defined right at the beginning as a "set of coordinated strategies to improve the use of antimicrobial medications". So that in and of itself is not a AMS program (ASP) yet. I see it as a thing in flux- it starts with AMS committees or AMS teams, and when there is institutional support, it morphs into a program. While an ASP is not defined as such on this page, it is the formally sanctioned application of AMS in an institution; the section "AMS program components" explains this. The problem is that as of today probably less than half of all institutions in the US give full-time equivalent physician and pharmacist support to an ASP!
