Death to Smoochy

edit

Should the Robin Williams film Death to Smoochy be mentioned under the Film section? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 150.249.214.10 (talk) 08:25, 5 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

In the examples section the song "Barney's On Fire" is listed as being misattributed to Weird Al Yankovich. It could also be included that, in an ironic twist, Weird Al did sing about Barney in his parody of "MacArthur Park" known as "Jurassic Park". The lyric in question was, "I'm afraid those things will harm me, 'cause they sure don't act like Barney." In the music video, Barney is shown being decapitated by another dinosaur. 38.133.253.138 (talk) 11:18, 15 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Why no Barney Bunch mentions?

edit

I'm not trying to sound like a troll here, but why is it that when any mention of "The Barney Bunch" comes up, it immediately gets shelved on a page that is all about (*and is thus labeled as*) "Anti-Barney humor"? Is it because of how the show is about gay stereotypes? Because there are definitely other pages that are about such topics, too. Coolsickle462 (talk) 12:49, 9 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

No, it's because you provided no reliable sources to back it up. From WP:V: "...all material must be attributable to reliable, published sources. Additionally, quotations and any material challenged or likely to be challenged must be supported by inline citations." From WP:BURDEN: "The burden to demonstrate verifiability lies with the editor who adds or restores material, and it is satisfied by providing an inline citation to a reliable source that directly supports the contribution." Please change X to Y.

X: More recently, a YouTuber named Ryan Casey (also known as RCdash9 Videos and later Ryan's Monstrous Media Circus) has been making Barney Errors with real voice acting.[citation needed]

Y: More recently, YouTuber named Ryan Casey, a Baron of the Principality of Sealand and creator of Lord Ryan's Media Circus (formerly RCdash9 Videos), has been making Barney Errors combining real voice acting and text to speech voices. [citation needed] Ryancasey93 (talk) 01:44, 23 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Not done: No need to edit language presenting an unsourced claim. I removed it altogether. LizardJr8 (talk) 02:37, 23 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
I don't know who even put that there in the first place, but whoever did it must've not cited any of my videos on YouTube. I really have been making Barney Error videos with real voice acting. For instance, I made a realistic looking Barney Error based on the Nintendo 3DS, which is what started my reputation for doing voice impressions of Barney in Barney Error videos. It seems like you want us to include your stuff on this page - apart from it failing WP:GNG, there could be major WP:COI issues - the talk page topic you added here reeks of self-promotion. The Grand Delusion(Send a message) 05:00, 25 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
Why are you accusing me of self promotion? I’m just trying to back up my claim. If this is gonna be a problem, blame the person that even wrote the mention of me in the first place. Ryancasey93 (talk) 12:19, 25 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
The person who cited it obviously has no conscience. Ryancasey93 (talk) 12:21, 25 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
Please allow me to edit this page, so that I can make sense of it. Ryancasey93 (talk) 12:23, 25 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
Lord Ryan’s Media Circus
I want to know who wrote the original sentence about my channel to begin with. All I asked for was for my YouTube channel to be cited, and you accused me of Self Promotion.

Don’t deny it. Ryancasey93 (talk) 12:45, 25 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
1) I had literally never heard of you or your YouTube channel before in my entire life, and I don't care enough to find out who wrote the original sentence about your channel. 2) Don't deny what? 3) Was there really any reason to ping me and/or LizardJr8 over this? Or any reason to create FIVE replies in a row to me? You are not helping your case here. The Grand Delusion(Send a message) 17:48, 25 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
1. First of all, you’re being very rude and belittling to me. I found out TODAY that my friend on YouTube named Timothy S Batarseh, who goes by BALtimore2001 on YouTube wrote it in the first place. He was the one who wrote that reference, but just forgot to cite the source. If you two even cared who wrote the article, then why did you even remove it? You screwed both me and Tim out of a reference that could have made me better known on Wikipedia.
2 and 3. Don’t deny WHAT?!? The fact that I have every right to call you two out for being dismissive of me? I pinged the BOTH of you because now I sent a complaint email against you two and I WILL take up a formal dispute report if I have to.
You two are the most cynical, dismissive, greedy, narcissistic, and ungrateful people I ever met in my entire life for doing this to me and Tim, and you two don’t even deserve to even be on here. You’re not helping YOUR CASE by discriminating against Autistic people who want to make their way in a world which is run by ungrateful people just like YOU TWO.
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU TOO ASSHOLES. Ryancasey93 (talk) 18:53, 25 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Ryancasey93: Hi. I'm an admin here. That doesn't give me any special standing in content matters, but since you mentioned dispute resolution, now seems like a good time for me to jump in.
I feel like the two editors above haven't explained things very well to you. Wikipedia articles generally don't talk about self-published works, including YouTube channels, unless they have been covered in reliable third-party sources in the context of the article. It doesn't look like your channel has been, so it shouldn't have been included here in the first place. I'm sorry for the confusion. I see why the citation needed tag made you think that, well, a citation was needed, and would ensure that the content stayed in the article. The editor who added that tag should have just removed the statement, not tagged it. But this is resolved now. If your channel starts getting media attention, feel free to post here again with some links to that. In the meantime, please don't accuse people of things like discrimination just for doing their jobs. Yes, it could have been explained better, but we're all volunteers here. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (they|xe|🤷) 19:13, 25 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
