Finance minister, Minister of Finance, Minister for Finance?
editSo, there has been some reverting here lately. All in good faith, I presume. But, I still think it should be brought up on the talk page. The case at hand is what the title of Swedish Finance minister Anders Borg should be. The options are:
- Minister for Finance (as stated by Swedish governmental website here: http://www.sweden.gov.se/sb/d/577, and used by these articles: Minister for Finance (Ireland), Minister for Economy and Finance (Greece), Minister for Finance (Singapore) and Minister for Finance and Administration (Australia). Possibly other articles too.)
- Minister of Finance (looks more aesthetically pleasing than "for", I think. More commonly used in Wikipedia articles, for example in Minister of Finance (Canada), Federal Minister of Finance (Germany), Minister of the Economy, Finance and Industry (France) and Minister of Finance (Japan) (and many more).)
- Finance minister ("Minister of Finance" and "Minister for Finance" both redirect to Finance minister, so one could argue that that is Wikipedia standard. That would also probably be the most accurate direct translation from the swedish "Finansminister".)
In addition to the arguments outlined above, it is important to take into account the titles used by the other ministers of the Swedish government. There should be some consistency throughout the articles.
What do you think? Jobjörn (Talk ° contribs) 00:16, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
- It should definitely be "Minister for Finance", since that is the official English term used on the government's website, as well as in line with the naming of other Swedish ministers at Wikipedia. /Slarre 17:29, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
