Anesthesia Huffing
editthe machine is pretty sophisticated and complex for a bong, man. 68.36.120.7 (talk) 18:52, 30 July 2010 (UTC)
- Turns out it's not a bong after all because there's no water piping involved. Oops. Hookah maybe? 68.36.120.7 (talk) 18:55, 30 July 2010 (UTC)
- Nah, hookahs are apparently a type of bong, to judge from the article. Ok, a "huffing tube" or whatever it is. LOL. 68.36.120.7 (talk) 19:01, 30 July 2010 (UTC)
Merge from Boyle's machine to Anaesthetic machine
editA Boyle's machine seems to be a type of anesthetic machine, but it does not appear to be notable enough or of sufficient article size to justify being a separate article, so I suggest a merge to anaesthetic machine. Mikael Häggström (talk) 22:44, 31 July 2012 (UTC)

Merge Fresh gas flow
edit- The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section. A summary of the conclusions reached follows.
- To merge Fresh gas flow and Adjustable pressure-limiting valve (short text and context), leaving Anesthetic vaporizer as a viable independent article with room for expansion. Klbrain (talk) 18:42, 3 February 2024 (UTC)
Fresh gas flow is a stub and basically a definition of the term in the context of anaesthesia. I suggest merging it into this article with a redirect, or if there are other articles which refer to fresh gas flow in other contexts, a disambiguation page. Cheers, · · · Peter Southwood (talk): 10:40, 12 October 2023 (UTC)
- It seems simple enough, but in preparation would it be reasonable to merge Adjustable pressure-limiting valve here? Also Anesthetic vaporizer and Breathing circuit plus fresh gas flow redirects could be modified to point at the newly merged section here. Perhaps mention of flow rate currently in the lede of fresh gas flow could be linked to Flow measurement for clarity pre-merge. Peter, I think a merge template needs to be on the top of Anaesthetic machine else the merge could fail for technical reasons. Regards CV9933 (talk) 13:57, 12 October 2023 (UTC)
- Just bumping this Pbsouthwood, any thoughts? Regards CV9933 (talk) 10:51, 16 October 2023 (UTC)
- CV9933, A breathing circuit is a part of any closed or semi-closed rebreather system, not just of anaesthetic machines, much the same for adjustable pressure limiting valve, which is a component in many pressurised fluid circuits. Anesthetic vaporizer is difinitively a part of an anaesthetic machine. I doubt if there is any other use case, the question is whether it should be a stand-alone with a summary in Anesthetic machine or merged in full with a redirect, and the possibility of splitting out again if it gets too big. I have no problem with putting a template on anesthetic machine as this is getting more complex than I expected, but what technical reasons are you thinking of? it looks technically quite straightforward, or are you thinking someone might push back and revert on a technicality? Cheers, · · · Peter Southwood (talk): 17:00, 16 October 2023 (UTC)
- Pbsouthwood I would have classed this as a non-controversial merge but once tagged, if there were no merge tag added here, those who only follow this article could argue (post merge) that they weren't informed and the merge could fail on that technicality. Breathing circuit article says in the lede that it is a medical device used to deliver oxygen. Reading the history it was originally a Ventillator circuit article which got moved to Breathing circuit and then expanded - hence the contradictions in the body of the article, which would need sorting out. The adjustable pressure limiting valve in this context is part of the anaesthetic machine so I think this can be merged here but I take your point about Pressure regulators which I'm familiar with. I've seen Klbrain doing a lot of mergers, and it's been a while for me - maybe they can give us some pointers? Regards. CV9933 (talk) 19:22, 16 October 2023 (UTC)
- I can do it myself, but am a bit busy at the moment, and would be happy for someone else to do it if they are confident of getting it reasonably right. Cheers, · · · Peter Southwood (talk): 19:46, 16 October 2023 (UTC)
- I'm sure we can sort it out. Incidentally, I was very interested in why merge proposals fail and made a list of medical merge proposals a few years ago. I learned a lot and my conclusion was never to make a merge proposal unless I was prepared to do it myself. Regards CV9933 (talk) 10:57, 17 October 2023 (UTC)

- Support all 3. Thanks for the ping. I tend to specialize in stale/old merge proposal (currently working on March '23), but do have medical background and tend to do a few more for with WikiMed project. A merge seem like a good idea Fresh gas flow and Adjustable pressure-limiting valve (short text and context), and OK for Anesthetic vaporizer, the biggest problem there is that that article is entirely unreferenced! (in the sense that the are no-line citations). The vaporized one could be stand-alone with a summary, but there is material on that page that more generally relates to anaesthesia, suggesting that consolidation through a merge would be a better idea. So, allow some time for any objections (2 weeks from last substantive comment should do it), then anyone (including the proposer) can close the discussion and decide an outcome. (Simple) full-content merges maintain clearer attribution, with subsequent editing in the merged article leading to a more refined final page. Klbrain (talk) 14:10, 17 October 2023 (UTC)
- I see that Kwekubo created the APL valve article so perhaps they may have some input for this discussion.Regards CV9933 (talk) 15:03, 20 October 2023 (UTC)
- I have merged Fresh gas flow and made it a dab page, copied some content from Anesthetic vaporizer as a summary section but left Anesthetic vaporizer as a viable independent article with room for expansion, as I do not have the time to source all the claims that do not have inline refs at present. I will look at the others next. Cheers, · · · Peter Southwood (talk): 11:15, 4 January 2024 (UTC)
