Added a reference to AMS-LaTeX, even though there isn't an article for it (yet). Richard Pinch 11:20, 20 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Re my attempt to clean up the External links section: Sub-pages within an official website are generally not linked in the External links section. I don't understand why both cannot be used as sources. --Ronz (talk) 16:52, 20 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Revision of New Sections

edit

I just wrote two new sections: "AMS and mathematical research" and "Influence on policy and education". These are my first significant contributions to Wikipedia (outside of finding sources and updating information) and as a math guy I wouldn't be surprised if it is not written perfectly. I would appreciate it if someone with more experience writing articles could take a look and make any necessary changes. Thanks in advance. — Grey (talk) 17:22, 13 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hi GreysonMB, thanks for your edits. I am planning on taking a more careful look at some point, but from a superficial glance the thing that popped out was that all the sourcing for your addition appears to come from the AMS itself. This may be ok (as I said, I haven't looked closely yet), depending on how promotional the content is (among other things), but really the gold standard would be content based on sources that are independent of the AMS. As I said, I'm planning on taking a closer look at some point. --JBL (talk) 22:54, 13 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
