IMDb is not considered a reliable source, particularly for biographical material, as anyone can edit it.--Bbb23 (talk) 00:46, 10 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Please change Amanda Abbington's birthday from 1975 to February 28, 1974. Source: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0007893/ Mault92 (talk) 17:37, 1 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. * Mault92, while I appreciate your request, IMDb is not considered a reliable source. — {{U|Technical 13}} (tec) 17:50, 1 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

These guys hate imdb so much, they'd rather let inaccurate info remain on wiki than use imdb as a source to correct it. Very odd.68.129.15.71 (talk) 20:42, 28 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

IMDb is a WP:USERGENERATED source, they don't check that the dates users submit are correct.
Abbington's date of birth in the current article is being sourced to an unverifiable episode of the One Show (which seems an odd place for someone to reveal a full date of birth, if it's not being broadcast anywhere near that date?) and two news articles which only mention her age. I've removed the claimed date and replaced it with the approximate year (1971/72) based on the news articles (which would suggest that IMDb is, indeed, wrong about her date of birth). Strictly controversy

edit

While avoiding 'News' it seems that we might need a distinct section on her Strictly controversy. Or certainly expand what we have.

For example Amanda Abbington said she was “diagnosed with mild PTSD” following her stint on the BBC show Strictly Come Dancing. is the sort of thing we might include.

Any thoughts before I add some bits? Lukewarmbeer (talk) 14:57, 21 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
