Alexander's parent
editHi, excuse my terrible English ... Alexander was born in Kazakhstan to Russian parents (from the region Belarus) because Belarus did not exist before 1992. Best regards. --Mapelli Fabrizio (talk) 08:10, 16 December 2010 (UTC)
- Actually, the Russian Federation did not exist yet either. Until 1992, it was called Russian SFSR and it was part of the Soviet Union, just like the other SSRs. Therefore, if his parents are from the then Belarus SSR, they are Belarusian, not Russian. Luxic (talk) 08:56, 16 December 2010 (UTC)
- To make things more complicated, at least his Father is an ethnic German. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.108.53.137 (talk) 13:10, 8 January 2011 (UTC)
- Well, if that's true, please, provide a reliable source. Otherwise, it simply won't matter to us per WP:VNT. Luxic (talk) 15:34, 8 January 2011 (UTC)
He wants to play again for German under-19 team
editIn this actual interview he says that he wants to play again for the German under-19 team. --Yoda1893 (talk) 17:38, 16 December 2010 (UTC)
- Nice one! I've cited it in the article, thanks! ;-) Luxic (talk) 20:02, 16 December 2010 (UTC)
- His adviser confirmed that Alexander Merkel decided to play for Germany. [1] --91.20.54.46 (talk) 19:48, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
- Actually, it's the coach who decides whether he will ever play. So, per WP:CRYSTAL, the current citation is enough, as it simply points out what his preference currently is. Luxic (talk) 20:15, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
