editI have tagged this article in the Australian politics WikiProject because MacLeay was Colonial Secretary of New South Wales from 1825 to 1837, and first Speaker of the Legislative Council from 1843 to 1846. Hesperian 12:05, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
Flagging edits and new text
editIm just flagging my intention to add new material to this page. Ive made some changes, particularly removing an incorrect refernce to Alexander being the author of the Quinary system - it was his son William. Macleays political and scientific careers need expansion, and topics such as his falling out with Governor Bourke and bankruptcy in the 1840s need inclusion.
