City
editAlandur is NOT a city, let alone major city in TN. It should be removed from that list. --Madhu 11:09, 16 April 2006 (UTC)
- Well, it appears that the list of cities in the template TamilNadu are based on the population (>100K). The criteria sounds okay to me. --Madhu 18:13, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
- All suburbs/neighbourhoods of a metro city like Chennai are considered part of the city and are nover referred to as a city individually, irrespective of their population. Thus, Alandur, Tambaram, Vandalur, Minjur, Avadi, Thirunindravur, Guindy, Mylapore, etc. are to be referred to as suburbs or neighbourhoods of Chennai (even though many of these exceed 100K in their population count). Avadi and Tambaram, despite being upgraded as municipal corporations, are still part of the Chennai Metropolitan Area and are de facto suburbs of Chennai. They are never considered separate (or satellite) cities on their own. Rasnaboy (talk) 08:14, 15 December 2022 (UTC)
