Two articles that overlap about battles in the city during the Civil War
edit- We could rename the article Battle of al-Qusayr as the First Battle of Qusayr and the article Al-Qusayr offensive as the Second Battle of Qusayr. This would be similar to the American Civil War articles about the First Battle of Bull Run and the Second Battle of Bull Run. Please discuss. Geraldshields11 (talk) 17:25, 20 May 2013 (UTC)
- No, we don't rename Qusayr offensive to Second Battle of Qusayr. Because the previous month of the offensive involved fighting in the towns and villages around the city in the countryside, not the city itself. Instead I have already proposed earlier in the day on the other editor's talk pages that we create a new article titled Second Battle of Qusayr and move information on the last two days of fighting to that article. As for this article, offensive, we close it, because the offensive was primarily aimed at capturing the countryside villages thus tightening the siege and ultimately leading to the assault on the city, like the lead paragraph says. One editor has already agreed that the current battle that started yesterday is notable enough to have its own article separate from this one. EkoGraf (talk) 19:09, 20 May 2013 (UTC)
We should keep as it is. Qusayr offensive is a good name, and no need to create a new page to dilute more the events. It is the same campaign. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.238.83.44 (talk) 20:04, 20 May 2013 (UTC) It looks that the Hezbollah/Government attack in the city was either repelled or it was a raid, and the main attack looks that it came form the west and north, there is no attack from the east or south Alhanuty (talk) 20:10, 20 May 2013 (UTC)
Wikipedia practice is to create new articles if the event is notable enough. As for your assertions Alhanuty, in fact, most sources don't talk about any attacks coming from the west, but most sources do talk about the east, south and northeast. Also, two opposition activists and an FSA spokesman claim the attack was repelled; two opposition activists and an al-Jazeera reporter say the military has captured most of the city. Who should we believe? EkoGraf (talk) 20:22, 20 May 2013 (UTC)
- I agree with EkoGraf divide the article, Al-Quseir campaign only for the countryside around the city, the city was then besieged and attacked, it is a new confrontation and purpose the offensive launched by the army was besieged only Al-Quseir, today, are fighting in the city, this is a new phase, so we need a new articleRogal Dorm (talk) 20:38, 20 May 2013 (UTC)
How is this new, this is the same event two days later..... In two days, when the army takes dabaa, a third article will be created? Is one village one article the path to follow? I don't think. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.238.83.44 (talk) 21:01, 20 May 2013 (UTC)
I agree with you EkoGraf it is confusing, but it looks that the attacks were repelled, but sure there will be other attacks coming still Alhanuty (talk) 21:16, 20 May 2013 (UTC)
SOHR reported the Army surrounded the village of al-Dab'a, north of the city. SOHR said there were conflicting reports as to whether or not the Syrian army was fighting inside al-Quseir city, but had reports which confirmed that they were gathering near the western neighborhood of al-Quseir "in order to lay siege on the city itself"
So I assert attacks by Hezbollah are coming from the southAlhanuty (talk) 21:18, 20 May 2013 (UTC)
The east and south of Qusayr is under army control, no question about that. The rebels are holding out in the north for the moment but it may not last.
Why the info on the israeli jeep, which is clearly shown on a video has been deleted? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.238.83.44 (talk) 21:25, 20 May 2013 (UTC) I think a map will be good for explaining the situation in al qusayr Alhanuty (talk) 22:12, 20 May 2013 (UTC)
19 May 2013 Battle of Qusayr
editI propose to rename the section Battle of Qusayr, inside of the Al-Qusayr offensive article, as the section on the Second Battle of Qusayr. The reason is there is already a seperate 2012 Battle of al-Qusayr article. Also, there seems to be third-party reports that the current battle started around 19 May 2013. Please discuss. Geraldshields11 (talk) 00:28, 21 May 2013 (UTC)
I have created a new article titled Battle of al-Qusayr (2013) which covers the current battle for the city, as part of the overall offensive. Most of the info on the battle for the city has been moved there with only a sumarization left in the offensive article. EkoGraf (talk) 14:34, 22 May 2013 (UTC)
Fifth day was a day of rest?
editThe article has sections detailing the events happening the First day, Second day, and so on... but after the Fourth Day it then abruptly jumps to the Sixth day with no mention of anything at all happening on the Fifth day. There is not even a section for the Fifth day. Did nothing at all really happen on this day? I find that doubtful... so why is this like this? --Teabeard (talk) 04:13, 27 May 2013 (UTC)
Eleventh Day
editFall of Dabaa airport confirmed by Yazed al Hasan, a spokesman for the rebel Farouq Battalions. Hezbollah’s strategists had divided Qusayr “on a grid into 16 squares.” Hezbollah and Assad's forces have cleared 13 of them (~ 77% of the city).[1] — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.202.173.154 (talk) 02:17, 30 May 2013 (UTC)
13th day
edit"State-run Syrian TV said troops on Friday captured the village of Jawadiyeh outside Qusair, closing all entrances leading to the town and tightening the government’s siege."[1] — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.202.173.154 (talk) 22:47, 31 May 2013 (UTC)
Sixteenth day
editRegime forces control almost 50 percent of Qusayr, rebel commander tells Al Jazeera. Oraba Idris, a rebel commander in Qusayr, tells Al Jazeera that heavy shelling have forced fighters to retreat in some areas and that advancing regime forces control almost 50 percent of the town.http://blogs.aljazeera.com/topic/syria/regime-forces-control-almost-50-percent-qusayr-rebel-commander-tells-al-jazeera92.113.138.55 (talk) 20:45, 4 June 2013 (UTC)
Should put that whole last paragraph under a seventeenth day — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kiki023 (talk • contribs) 01:06, 5 June 2013 (UTC)
Hezbollah's al-Manar TV correspondent embedded with Syrian Army troops "reported that the Syrian Army recaptures the town of Dhairej in the east of al-Qusayr countryside. He described the recapture of this town as strategic since it helps to tighten grip around the foreign-backed militants and secure the entrances and the exits of al-Qusayr city. Dhairej has vast arable lands that are connected to other neighboring lands, something that helps arms and militants smuggling from Lebanon’s eastern mountain range. Al-Manar correspondent quoted a Syrian Army officer as saying that the town was a route for supplying the armed groups from Damascus to al-Qusayr.". http://www.almanar.com.lb/english/adetails.php?eid=96129&frid=23&seccatid=20&cid=23&fromval=1 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.32.126.48 (talk) 03:08, 5 June 2013 (UTC)
Battle over
editBattle hould be written as decisive victory for the army.
Rebels are dead, captured or on the run. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A00:8C40:40:0:0:0:70E9:7B27 (talk) 07:03, 5 June 2013 (UTC)
- Battle in the city is certainly over but I am not sure that there are not some fights in province?--Vojvodae please be free to write :) 09:32, 5 June 2013 (UTC)
- There migth be figths in province, but also all nearby villages were taken earlier by Government forces. Could be Syrian Army victory. --94.140.88.117 (talk) 12:56, 5 June 2013 (UTC)

All news about the victory of syrian army are not true there are even regime propoganda.Fighting are raged inside Quasyr and rebels are resisting from government ofensive. THIS IS THE TRUE — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.107.252.110 (talk) 17:46, 5 June 2013 (UTC)
- Northeast Qusayr, plus several countryside villages are still in rebel hands, and the regime assault is ongoing. The offensive is far from over. NightShadeAEB (talk) 02:43, 7 June 2013 (UTC)
Wrong, there isn't a single rebel left inside Qusayr. They are all dead or escaped. The governement victory is complete and total. All media report that it is decisive, so "decisive victory" should be the word put in the page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A00:8C40:40:0:0:0:70E9:7B27 (talk) 17:01, 7 June 2013 (UTC)
