Hubs

edit

Is it right to record Cardiff as a hub? Twice daily flights from Newquay to Manchester make an intermediate stop but no other routes originate from here, nor are any aircraft or crew. Plymouth is clearly the main base since it is the location of the headquarters, the base for two aircraft and a crew base, while Newquay and Bristol are both aircraft and crew bases. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 217.42.126.174 (Talk) (talkcontribs) 22:04, 9 September 2006 (UTC)

I don't think hub is the correct term unless it has a different meaning here in the US than it does in the UK. Malcolm Naylor, airline chief executive, told Wales' Western Mail: "We're bringing our highly successful formula of city-to-city services at times and prices that suit both business and leisure travellers to Cardiff for the first time, and we know these routes will be popular." Here in the US, a hub is a "center of activity or interest or commerce or transportation" and I'd hardly call a couple flights a day a hub. AuburnPilot 22:15, 9 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
Of course it depends on how the airline sees it. AuburnPilot 22:16, 9 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Here in the airlines refer to the term hubs very loosly. Any airport that has a flight can be considered as a 'base' Devouring the webs information! 18:04, 10 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fleet size

edit

I see that an edit has been made reducing the size of the fleet from five aircraft to four. I believe that this is wrong - it should be five and a search of the G-INFO UK aircraft database maintained by the United Kingdom Civil Aviation Authority confirms this.
