Lime v. limestone

edit

Not sure exactly what the episode said, but CO2 scrubbers need lime (i.e., calcium oxide) to function. Limestone (i.e., calcium carbonate) is the product of the reaction between lime and CO2. Either this article needs to be edited (although I'm fairly sure Scott says he found the "lime"), or the show made an error (which should then be pointed out). The woman says granulated limestone. Scott says lime. — Trust not the Penguin (T | C) 06:39, 12 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
When limestone is heated, carbon dioxide is released to produce lime (CaCO3 -> CaO + CO2). Lime can then be "slaked" with water (CaO + H20 -> Ca(OH)2) if desired. CaO and Ca(OH)2 are both "alkaline" and either might be what is referred to in the episode. The red dye seen in the test likely represents (and may actually be) phenolphthalein, the idea being that they add their prospective alkaline substance to water, then see how much acid can be added to the container without turning this pH indicator dye red.
That said, like in the last episode a less lethal solution existed, even if there is no way to transmit air by Stargate, since gypsum can be melted (1460 C) and electrolyzed to produce calcium metal. Wnt (talk) 17:10, 13 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Final song in part 3

edit

The final song of part 3 is "Breathe" performed by Alexi Murdoch.[1] ==> Don't know where to put that. So for now I put it there. Greenski (talk) 21:58, 11 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

edit

Issues:

  • Lede: Unlike to United States; link it to Television in the United States instead
  • Lede: I would guest that it aired on a number of channels out of the U.S.
  • References: Please stick to one writing format: Example: 2009-10-02 then February 26, 2009. Only one method please.
  • References: Ref. 33 - A dead link

That's all. On hold. TBrandley 12:36, 30 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

Issues fixed. For the second part, yes it did air on channels outside the US, and those are mentioned in the lead; not positive what's being requested there. Wizardman Operation Big Bear 22:24, 30 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
That's been fixed as well. Wizardman Operation Big Bear 15:17, 7 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
