Afon Llwyd or Afon Lwyd
editI believe the correctly mutated form of "Llwyd" (Welsh "Grey") is "Lwyd". (The word undergoes a soft mutation to "lwyd" after a feminine noun.) Therefore the article should be "Afon Lwyd" 78.145.65.226 (talk) 16:08, 3 April 2010 (UTC)
- I have moved the page so as to recognise correct spelling. Geopersona (talk) 06:21, 9 September 2011 (UTC)
- Mind you, I note just now that the Welsh version of this article at https://cy.wiki.x.io/wiki/Afon_Llwyd is Afon Llwyd! cofion/regards Geopersona (talk) 08:41, 26 April 2020 (UTC)
- Ordnance Survey has Afon Lwyd,so I suggest we stick with this. Although we also currently have Afon Llynor, Afon Llafar, Afon Lliw, Afon Llugwy, Afon Lledr, Afon Lloer, Afon Lligwy, Afon Llifon, Afon Llyfn, Afon Llynedno, Afon Llyfnant, Afon Llechwedd Mawr, Afon Lluestgota, Afon Llanfihangel, Afon Lliw, Afon Llan, Afon Llia (... but also Afon Leri, Afon Laen, Afon Lwynor, Afon Lash)! - Agreed Martinevans123, we stick with it but in fact OS likes it both ways - take a look at the contrasting spellings of the river in the vicinity of Caerleon and Ponthir, at 25K scale and 50K scale! Not the first time OS have confused matters. Sadly we have River Usk/Afon Wysg (25K) and River Usk/Afon Wsyg (50K) at Kemeys Commander on the two different scales - that's just carelessness! cheers Geopersona (talk)
- Oh dear. Is nothing dependable any more? This all looks very borderline. Martinevans123 (talk) 19:50, 26 April 2020 (UTC)
