Plottier Formation Typo - Evidence?
editWhat is the evidence that the Plottier Formation "correction" is a typo? Hendrickx, Tschopp and Ezcurra recently followed it in "Taxonomic identification of isolated theropod teeth: The case of the shed tooth crown associated with Aerosteon (Theropoda: Megaraptora) and the dentition of Abelisauridae". I see it was stated to be a typo by @Meekororum, but where was this determined? I want to clarify since the internet contains many conflicting sources; thanks! - I thought the Plottier Fm identification was a typo, because in the recent osteology of Aerosteon, the formation is listed again as the Anacleto Formation, which had two authors from the paper that referred it to the "Cañadón Amarillo Formation" (Juan Canale and Fernando Novas), which does not exist. Later papers have cited Novas and colleagues' paper as referring it to the Plottier Formation, but the fact that two of these authors have referred it more recently to the Anacleto Formation leads me to believe it was a typographical error. - I see, makes sense to me! Thanks so much for the clarification. Richardhesutton (talk) 03:09, 19 January 2023 (UTC)
Species Name
editUnder ICZN rules, the species name is A. riocoloradense, since Greek osteon (and hence the entire compound aerosteon) is neuter gender. N. Pharris (talk) 04:14, 16 November 2023 (UTC)
