I could not find any source online for the claim that Marks was Jewish. Even though Marks/Marx is a common Jewish surname, it is not exclusively so. Marks being granted a title of nobility and being buried in a monastery cemetery would make it unlikely, at least without conversion to Christianity. I have changed Category:Russian Jews to Category:Russian people of German descent. If anyone can find a reference otherwise, and cite the source, please change it back.
