Merge with fruit
editWouldn't it be best to merge this with the fruit page? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Treebearded (talk • contribs) 16:01, 21 June 2008 (UTC)
- You could be right. I'll try to gather enough information to make it a larger article, but otherwise it probably should be merged. Cedarboy (talk) 14:53, 18 June 2009 (UTC)

Apple
editAn apple is not an accessory fruit. A quick look at the page for "pome" should clear this up. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 137.82.118.110 (talk) 19:39, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
- I did look at the pome page, and it apparently says pomes are accessory fruits. You can also look at this fruit terminology page. Cedarboy (talk) 14:53, 18 June 2009 (UTC)
- There is no one correct answer for that (I work on pomes). It is not entirely unreasonable to consider it an accessory fruit, but the fleshy part comes from a half-inferior ovary, so it isn't dramatically non-ovary tissue. I'd like to see the statement that pomes are accessory fruit de-emphasized through wikipedia, and will consider doing that myself in a few months if there are no objections.
