Range map

Just a question about the range map: i would like to see more North American range maps, but not Americo-centric ones. Does anyone know of NA maps that also have Canadian / Mexicanos sub-divisions (Canadian provinces/territories and Estados Mexicanos)? --chris 19:25, 23 June 2006 (UTC) PS. great map, by the way.

Range Map, Subnotes

I was working on plants, of the Sonoran Desert, and started categories, either for the states, or for the Regions. It is ongoing, and I've been working pretty much by state, or by region. Since I live in the Lower Colorado River Valley, (LCRV), I have been focussed on the West, Mexico, or Western North America, though I did live in Mass. So, my efforts of categories, are in the beginning stages.

Another "Balsam Fir"

A claim has been made that a tree called the "Balsam Fir" existed in Italy, and went extinct, due to overuse by the Cremona luthiers, and this is why we can't make violins that sound like the ones of Stradivarius today. This claim has been disputed, but whatever truth it has, or whatever facts debunk it, should probably be accessible from here. Quadibloc (talk) 19:52, 19 March 2018 (UTC)

In further searching, apparently this legendary tree is Pinus balsamea, which may mean that it ought to be called the "Balsam Pine". Quadibloc (talk) 19:55, 19 March 2018 (UTC)

They are the same plant. The original name given to it by Linnaeus in 1753 was Pinus balsamea, but the name Abies balsamea was given to it in 1768. Quadibloc (talk) 19:59, 19 March 2018 (UTC)

Possible addition to description
