Articles for creation

edit

During the articles for creation process, the article was put 'on hold' with the reasoning "Same source used three times", and the user responded to that with the following. Chzz  ►  19:45, 22 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

I can certainly expand upon this article. As this is my first attempt at writing a Wikipedia article from scratch, I had aimed to make it informative, but also aimed at brevity. The reviewer's comment about the "same source used three times" presumably refers to the Aberdeen University Student Association website - but this was only cited three times because it verifies three separate facts in the article. There are four separate sources for the article as it stands - three which can be quickly accessed and verified online, and one published book. I am less concerned about the same source being used three times in this article than I am about the possible inference by the reviewer that any or all of the four sources cited do not meet Wikipedia's standards for verification or reliability. One of the website sources belongs to Aberdeen University - an academic institution now in its sixth century of existence, so I think it can be trusted without qualm. The website source which is "used three times" belongs to an official body within Aberdeen University - the Aberdeen University Students Association - so again I regard this as reliable. The third website source is simply an online version of an article published a few years ago in "Leopard Magazine". Leopard Magazine is a long-established publication dedicated to promoting and studying the life and culture of the North-east of Scotland, so again it is a reliable source of information, and is readily available to anyone wishing to learn more about the area in question. The book cited as a source is written by the former Technical Director of His Majesty's Theatre, and can be regarded as definitive. Having made the foregoing information about my sources clear, I would welcome any further advice. Solaricon (talk) 16:46, 22 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

There is absolutely nothing wrong with using one source many times, and the article seemed fine to me, so I accepted it as a live article.  Chzz  ►  19:45, 22 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

This article has been expanded radically in a short period of time, thanks mainly to the indefatigable research efforts of Summerhill Loon, who has also laboriously tracked down and referenced much of the relevant source material. Solaricon (talk) 11:34, 27 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Unwarranted wholesale change

edit

I have undone the wholesale deletion by 2a01:4c8:1467:2f91:2543:4c22:3e7a:8929 of the collapsible table of Student Shows since 1921. The justification given for this deletion was that the table was inaccurate. If there are inaccuracies in the table then please edit it accordingly. Please do not delete wholesale an aspect of the Wiki for Student Show on which a great many other editors have lavished considerable time and effort. Solaricon 20 September 2020
