A Potboiler?
editWhy do the editors of this article keep using the term 'potboiler' in relation to this work? Is this true literary criticism or just a cheap form of sarcasm? Colin4C 18:20, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
Love Chase was written hastily under financial pressure to make money for the Alcott family; has stock characters; silly plot twists; and many derivative elements. Most reviews introduce the term "potboiler" somewhere, and Alcott herself referred dismissively to her work in this genre as "blood and thunder tales". No sarcasm intended, cheap or otherwise; it's a literal description, not an insult. So, although immortal prose it aint, it has many interesting aspects nonetheless; lots of potential scholarly value.
By the way - I found the initial remarks a wee bit tactless. Jgreenbook 17:53, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
Sources
editI wanted to know if you'd be able to tell us where exactly to find sources 9 and 10 as I need them for an essay I am writing on Louisa May Alcott's portrayal of feminism and would like to review them on my own behalf for my essay? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.168.244.121 (talk) 15:39, 28 February 2010 (UTC)
