From a GE Superadio III owner: I have no actual knowledge on this, but AMAX could be a conflation of AM (as in amplitude modulation, a/k/a medium wave) and MAX (as in maximum). Does it really matter? — Preceding unsigned comment added by MrArtC (talk • contribs) 21:10, 17 June 2021 (UTC)
