editPlease remember that when you write out the battalion and regimental relationship that there is a difference between a "/" and a "-". "/" means that the element to the right is the parent unit of the element on the left. A "-" means that the element on the left is not subordinate to the one on the right.
Example: 1st Battalion, 46th Infantry Regiment, "1/46" means the 1st battalion falls up under the command of the 46th Infantry. Since there are very few Regimental Headquarters in the U.S. Army and the 46th Infantry doesn't maintain a HQ, the proper way to write it would be "1-46".
