The problem with the year 2038 is likely to happen on January 19, 2038 and might seem like a second Y2K. Joseandricardo, 01:00, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
- I reverted an edit by user 87.63.10.230 that asserted that the Y2K problem "didn't do any harm." This is provably incorrect; while Y2K didn't produce the massive disruptions that some people predicted, it still had a significant effect on computer systems around the world. Will there be the event of 2038 FIFA World Cup taking place in 2038?I don't think so, or maybe, because the FIFA World Cup Trophy will expire in 2038.And if it does occur, then it will be the 26th edition of all the FIFA World Cups. Joseandricardo, 01:03, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
- Still not relevant in this article, in spite of other attempts to note it. — Arthur Rubin (talk) 20:59, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
- Why the fuck isn't it relevant? It's the most famous and coveted trophy in the world. Wjfox2005 (talk) 16:25, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
Delete Reference
editI removed the item
27 December - The Lactadu's predicted end of the world day
This was entered by User:Lugold64, who made this one edit and disappeared. Furthermore, the sole item on the user's Talk Page refers to an article on "Lactadu" which appears to have been speedily deleted. Accordingly, I thought the reference here should probably go. I checked Google [1], and the only English-language listing for "Lactadu" is this one. There's one other listing in Spanish, but a Google translation doesn't seem to indicate anything about the end of the world.

Public domain
editThere seems to be a consensus at WP:RY that when a writer's work goes into public domain is (generally) not appropriate for these year articles, for three reasons:
- It assumes no further change in copyright law.
- It's US-centric. The year may be different in other countries. (My apologies if the example is in another country.)
- (With some exceptions), it's just not that notable.
I apologize for not giving reasons for the removal. — Arthur Rubin (talk) 07:59, 24 August 2012 (UTC)
JFK documents disclosure is inaccurate?
editIn the "fiction" section, the article states "According to the film JFK, previously classified documents relating to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy will be released to the public. However, the actual date is 2017." This statement is completely wrong. The first date was set for 2038, 75 years from the incident/commision. In 1991 film JFK, the stated date of 2038 is accurate. It was after that film, the public law "JFK Records Act" was passed by the United States Congress, effective October 26, 1992. The Act requires that each assassination record be publicly disclosed in full, and be available in the collection no later than the date that is 25 years after the date of enactment of the Act (i.e., October 26, 2017)
Before the JFK records act, these documents were supposed to be released in 2038.
This needs to be corrected in the article page of year 2038. usernamekiran (talk) 23:38, 13 February 2017 (UTC)
