Can anyone confirm the conference split? As well as go through the launch event replay to verify some of the claims in the Season structure section? Jalen Folf (Bark[s]) 07:32, 31 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Cedar Rapids

edit

The Cedar Rapids-Southwest Kansas match that resulted from the Oregon Blackbears forfeiting the initial scheduling was not listed on the AFL's website as a league match. @JMyrleFuller: Out of curiosity, what makes you think we should still list this game despite the case? Jalen Folf (Bark[s]) 01:02, 25 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

@JalenFolf: It's a game involving an AFL team, acknowledged by the team playing it. (The AFL has indicated at least an implicit permission given that the restructuring press release mentioned games against "other teams not mentioned.") I am indifferent as to whether it's included, since we also don't include the preseason games here and likewise, I am assuming this game won't count in the official standings. I have no qualms with it being removed. J. Myrle Fuller (talk) 01:06, 25 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Add back start times?

edit

I hope there's an editor willing to add back the start times in the Season schedule since the AFL's website just clarified their listed times are based on Eastern Time Zone. Also, considering the playoff format has been announced, we can add the postseason bracket and schedule while we're at it. Jalen Folf (Bark[s]) 03:03, 15 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

...and I've inserted the playoff bracket. Now all we need is the start times for all games and the tables of games for the postseason. Jalen Folf (Bark[s]) 03:20, 15 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

How Salina can be eliminated

edit

The AFL currently lists the Salina Liberty as clinched a playoff berth. I would advise not trusting this intuition and abide by the hidden notice I placed in the Standings table, as not every source can be correct. Here's how Salina can miss the playoffs as of this post:

  1. Southwest Kansas wins over Washington in Week 9.
  2. West Texas wins over Salina in Week 9.
  3. Southwest Kansas wins over Nashville in Week 10.
  4. Billings wins over Salina in Week 10.
  5. Orlando wins at least once in their remaining games against Wichita and Albany.
  6. The Albany-Billings and Wichita-Washington games do not affect this result.

As the first tiebreaker is Head-to-Head, West Texas would hold the tiebreaker in this scenario given the Week 9 matchup is the only game between the two teams this season. The final standings in this case would be as follows: Albany, Billings, and Orlando would have varied places in the Top 3 dependent on their (other) games, and Southwest Kansas would host West Texas in the first round.

However, this is purely based on the tiebreakers as they were announced on Wednesday. The AFL can still change things on us later on, but this is how I see this playing out. Jalen Folf (Bark[s]) 19:06, 16 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
