I note the group stage standings all use the word "match(es)" in the notes, rather than "game(s)." I suspect they're European soccer templates being borrowed for use in this article, given soccer fans' frequent use of the word "match" instead of "game." I can't figure out how to edit the standings to correct that usage, presumably because you have to edit the template and I can't figure out what the template is. Anyone know how to deal with this issue? 1995hoo (talk) 15:48, 14 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. I glanced and it's far too complicated for this afternoon. Maybe I'll look more closely over the weekend. The page to which you referred me does confirm my initial thought that it was prepared by Europeans for soccer usage, though. The documentation is convoluted enough that I may just shrug it off as not important enough to spend the amount of time it may take to understand how to tinker with it! 1995hoo (talk) 17:54, 14 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
I agree that the primary use of the table seems to be for soccer, but people have made a lot of patches to allow for other sports (e.g., “points” instead of “goals”, sorting by number of wins, etc.). Hopefully it’s possible to change “match(es)” to “game(s)”. White 720 (talk) 18:44, 14 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
Issue resolved. I asked on the template's talk page and they said you add a piped parameter called "matches_text" and set it to "game(s)." That did the job. I couldn’t figure it out from the documentation, though in fairness I’m editing via an iPad and there's no easy way to search the text on here. 1995hoo (talk) 18:54, 15 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hey all, i added the onlyinclude tags and section names to the standings. After that i added the transcluded method to all season articles so the standings only need to be updated here and not on every season article, which makes it much easier. Kante4 (talk) 15:54, 19 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
