Central Canadian province of Québec?
editJennytacular, I'm not sure I get why Ontario, and especially Québec, are labeled as Central Canadian provinces. Wouldn't the article be more appropriate at 2023 Eastern Canada wildfires? LilianaUwU (talk / contribs) 01:15, 4 June 2023 (UTC)
- 2023 Eastern Canada wildfires could be a umbrella term, since fires recently happened in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick recently, though Central Canada appears more descriptive as what provinces it is currently affecting. Central Canada is just Ontario-Quebec, so I initially thought that would be a good title, but I am definitely open to a move if other editors wish! Jennytacular (talk) 01:28, 4 June 2023 (UTC)
- "Central Canada" is fine by me. If you look at the article on Central Canada it literally defines it as Ontario and Quebec.-- Earl Andrew - talk 16:38, 6 June 2023 (UTC)
If you look at a map of North America, you can see that Quebec is not in the center of Canada. This needs to be under a title that makes the information easier to find.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Edknol (talk • contribs) 22:19, 7 June 2023 (UTC)
- If you look at a map of North America, you can see that the Midwest is not in the west of the US. And yet it is still called that. Your opinion is irrelevant. Read the article on Central Canada. -- Earl Andrew - talk 13:39, 8 June 2023 (UTC)
- Ontario and Quebec are in Central Canada. I know some in the west refer to Central Canada as Eastern Canada - but I don't see that this would impact the article name. Keep in mind that most Quebeckers live in the very western portion of the province - not the Gaspé; the same way that most Manitobans don't live on a seawater bay of the Atlantic Ocean and aren't in Atlantic Canada. OK, I will admit that I was not familiar with the List of regions of Canada. In looking for an article on the wildfires of Quebec, I started from 2023 Canadian wildfires. That article had sections for provinces of Canada, in alphabetical order. It seems odd that the other provinces each got their own section, but Ontario and Quebec were lumped together as Central Canada.Edknol (talk) 02:21, 10 June 2023 (UTC)
Cause of fires?!
editHas the cause of these been identified? Some suspect ARSON. Some believe they're accidental, like a thrown out cigarette, cigar or a campfire left burning. 216.247.72.142 (talk) 12:23, 28 June 2023 (UTC)
- What leads you to thinking there's a question there? The Canadian National Fire Database (CNFDB) states that
"Data completeness and quality vary among agencies and between years. Based on data in the National Forestry Database, over 8000 fires occur each year, and burn an average of over 2.1 million hectares."
- nrcan.gc.ca . The subject is not about hordes of arsonists. Do you think all locals are yet crazy? An industrial expansion conspiration? --Askedonty (talk) 21:49, 28 June 2023 (UTC)
- And does noone expect any mercy after being caught --
- .. in the following link, a video that might or not answer your interrogations. Here is a more general article about the situation on the following day after the video. Although they are not making it entirely obvious, what they are hinting at in their footnote is LIW, like this. --Askedonty (talk) 08:25, 18 August 2023 (UTC)
