@Alekscska: Hello, raising here as you've changed the piping for FC CSKA 1948 Sofia a few times. I'm not familiar with Bulgarian football so happy to listen to why the change your suggesting should be made. For the time being, I have reverted to the status quo from before and to match the piping at 2022–23 First Professional Football League (Bulgaria). Stevie fae Scotland (talk) 08:30, 8 June 2023 (UTC)
- Hello, this club was created in 2016 with the sole purpose of hindering and damaging the image of CSKA Sofia. In 2018 an auction was held for the assets of the bankrupt CSKA in 2016, won by CSKA Sofia. In Bulgaria, many people do not recognize and do not pronounce it CSKA 1948, but simply 1948. The team does not have the fan support of the authentic CSKA, nor does it have the right to play at the Bulgarian Army Stadium or use the emblem of the bankrupt club. On all this is the successor of CSKA Sofia. The situation is similar in Romania, where FCSB, competing in the first level of their football, cannot use the name of FC Steaua Bucharest. There, the team in Romania's second division, playing in a new stadium on the site of their former home, has that right.
- The difference here is that they are not banned, but spelling it CSKA is considered a provocation. In Europe, this is not known to the general public, and spelling CSKA 1948 (who are playing for the first time in their history in UEFA European club tournaments) could lead to confusion. With two clubs with the name CSKA Sofia, anyone unfamiliar with these facts may not understand that FC 1948 has nothing to do with the history, traditions and fans of CSKA Sofia. The aim is to differentiate the two clubs.
- (At FC 1948 home games the average attendance for the season is around 100 people) Alekscska (talk) 08:51, 8 June 2023 (UTC)
- Okay, I understand your concerns. However, the team seems to be routinely referred to as CSKA 1948 or CSKA 1948 Sofia in English language sources ([1], [2]). Per MOS:ROMANISATION, where there is
a more common English form of the name
, we should use that. I'm not fussed if Sofia is included or not but according to policy we should be using CSKA 1948 as a minimum. Stevie fae Scotland (talk) 11:19, 8 June 2023 (UTC)
